This box looks incredibly good, is simple to put a drive into, and functions nicely with eSATA and USB. The metal case often feels cool to the touch and it adds no noise to my Computer. Pricey for a box with no drive contemplating boxes with drives start out at just twice this cost. I usually have to use a USB port for power. It could be totally the fault of the drive, but with only a single drive, I can't give a comparison. eSATA constantly calls for I use the USB for energy and that certainly is no fault of the enclosure.

I purchased this external enclosure to residence the 120 GB drive that came out of my Mac Book Pro when I upgraded it to a 200 GB 7200 drive. I use this to run my Time Machine backups to. Works wonderful and looks very good. I don't will need the clunky USB splitter, but I can live with it. Looks good, nice color

This enclosure delivered on all fronts.My cons above are all reasonably minor, although I do wish it had rubber feet similar to those located on complete external units, but the capacity to get 7200 rpm and eSATA far outweighed my want to get rubber feet and I have no regrets making the selection I did.This unit has performed like a champ for me for numerous months.

Fantastic case. Cool looking. Straightforward to install. Both USB and eSata perform excellent with my motherboard (Intel BOXDG965WHMKR) None so far... I purchased it along with new Western Digital Scorpio WD3200BEVT 320GB 5400 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive. This mixture works great. I employed eSATA connection to clone my Desktop Difficult Drive. A lot quicker than through USB.

Nicely constructed, included accessories (pouch, esata braket) are good. Not reliable at 3. Gbps. I have varing degrees of SATA link errors whenever it links up at 3. Gbps. (On some controllers the link won't come up at all, and falls back to 1.5. Other people it comes up, then falls back to 1.5 immediately after errors. I'm employing this with an Intel SSD, so I require the 3. link speed to not limit the device. Light weight, effortless to assemble. The pouch they give you is just the proper size to hold the HD, the USB cable, eSata cable, and even an eSata express card! Although it is a tight fit. :) None, really. It would be good if there was a hassle-free way of powering it when utilizing eSata. I just use the USB cable to do that now, but it's kind of a mess of wires.

This case's tiny size and solid construction are a genuine plus. Not needing an external power supply also a plus. I have not attempted the eSATA interface yet so don't know if it would be quicker than USB2 or not. (I have a three.5" NexStar3, so I knew what to expect.) Minor:Rear applique/decal looks affordable, but does not detract from efficiency.

Modest, quiet, runs cool, looks superior.Quite uncomplicated install.Good carrying case.Rapid with esata, fine with USB.Contains a USB adapter so you could join two cables. Note: there is no energy brick included regardless of a 5v power input on the drive case. The energy is via USB and works fine on ports directly connected to my mobo - but there is not sufficient power on a front USB port on my antec case to run the drive as USB only. Quite quick with esata (but you also need to connect the USB for power).No plastic stand to hold it upright - but it works fine standing on edge or flat. Fine cost, excellent way to use an old notebook HDD.Bought from the egg (of course) - 6 days by U__ which includes a weekend and snowstorm to arrive TN to MA

Nice fit and finish and your drive is very secure in the enclosure. Haven't had any troubles with heat at all. Adore the eSATA but...see below. The included USB y-cable is enormous, way to big. Wish I had purchased a model with an AC power source for use with eSATA. Just purchased a third party adaptor.

Easy to use, rapidly, quiet and drive doesn't get to hot. None. purchased it along with a new Hitachi 200GB 7200 RPM hard drive for my laptop and employed this to clone my existing drive to my new one and worked like a charm. Now I utilized it with my old tough drive as a external tough drive to back up my facts.

Sleek, good searching and straightforward to install. This factor gets HOT! HOT! HOT! Maybe it is the 500GB WD I put into it but this is smaller consideration. This unit really demands some kind of fan. If you do not mind the heat then this is the unit for you. NewEgg as typically shipped rapidly and had a great cost.

Works great. Effortless to install the drive in the enclosure. Fingerprints. Energy supplies are straightforward to come by for this. Would be nice to have one packaged for a greater price.

Now THIS is a nice piece of work, well made and GREAT looking. The enclosure is VERY well made and exudes quality! Getting it up and running was very easy. The accessories that came with it are much appreciated. ??? Why can't all computer products be as well made as Vantec's???? This is my second one and WELL WORTH the additional money I paid for it! Ive had this enclosure since the end of 08 and it still works perfect. Pros: It's small and easy to take apart with just two screws. Ive upgraded a few times. Feels sturdy and since it's metal is stays cooler than other enclosures Ive used. It looks great also. Cons: I'm not a big fan of e-Sata yet. The speed is great but you still have to plug in the usb cable for power. Blue is getting a little old though. They need to move to red.

Great enclosure. Well made. I use it as my backup drive for my laptop. The travel case and esata port were a bonus. I use the esata for high speed data transfers to my desktop pc.

I bought this about a year ago and I love it! Not only does it look great, it functions even better. I slapped a 100GB sata drive in and I was off to the races. I am using it as a pocket hard drive to transport videos, files etc between locations. The case is great, provides protection from scratches and bumps while you are in transport. Unfortunately I lost my esata cable the moment I opened the box so I have not tried that. I am planning on buying the 3.5'' enclosure now.

I've been buying Vantec NexStar enclosures for a long time. I'm still as satisfied with them as I ever was. They aren't too pricey, but they are built well and look nice. The inclusion of the case and bracket are very welcomed.
