Cons:You might want to glance over instructions before inserting first drive. You'll be fine thereafter.Turn off your computer and you'll be very aware of it's fan noise. Otherwise fine for me.
Pros:I got two - both worked out of box.I PM'd so it was a great deal when I had to use all 5.25 bays on HAFX boxes for drive trays -and so needed external optical drive.Super construction and looks - just like all Vantec enclosures.USB3 Cable included. |

Cons:The fan is a bit on the loud side but not a deal breaker by any stretch. It kicks out a good amount of air.

I threw in a LG Blu-ray burner (WH14NS40K) and it is turning out successful copies each time. The case is solid and it has a small case fan that keeps everything cool. If your looking for a portable 5.25 inch drive, this is a great solution. |
My first thought when having to resort to an external optical drive was, "Here we go with more clutter on the desk". This is a well constructed and good looking casing, though. It works well vertically or horizontally, so to suit your loading preference.I burn lots of DVD's for my sister, but I use Bluray (for backup..). Simple to switch drives with two of these cases.if you have to burn or use a lot of optical disks, then having one of these just in front of you sure beats reaching for a drive in the computer.
