Super solid nice fitting unit. Shiny and quality construction with super easy installation. Colorful case sides just slide right off without need for screw removal and the hard drive installs with 4 supplied screws ... including the screwdriver! I have not had success in getting the unit to mount yet however I have a used linux OS drive in it and may have a initialize issue or partition issue that I will have to shake out. The read me files are not well labeled as far as where the manual is for help vs. which files have drivers for earlier OS's like 98 but I figured it out. Windows Vista found the drivers and installed no problem. Comes with nice USB cable for plugging into two USB's simultaneously for added power as some systems may need. Nice case (although not real leather) that has strong magnetic catch.

It took less than a minute to install a 60GB harddrive. Small, light, looks good, fast, no external power supply. Whats not to like?

This works as advertised. First time use of a HDD enclosure; used to salvage a HDD from my laptop. Didn't realize that there was a connection on the HDD that needed to be removed first, but once figured out, the setup went without a hitch. Highly recommended; case was a nice added touch.

ease of installation, worked right first try. transfers at 23mbs with my old laptop hard drive. looks good and the case is top quality too. fast shipping as always.

My motherboard died on my Dell laptop and it went out of commission. Thanks to this little gadget, I was able to at least save the HD and get the most current version of all my files off of it without having to step down to a week old backup copy. The drive came right out and installed in this in less than 5 minutes. I also like the cable that came with it that has a pass through on the USB power so it doesn't tie up all your ports.

Nice unit, well constructed and provided with a nice pouch. However, don't buy this device if you use an older COMPAQ laptop. The IBM DARA-212000 hard drive has a COMPAQ proprietary non-IDE connector and will not mate with the VANTEC connector. BUMMERS!!

This is a great little hard drive enclosure. It is solid, fast, easy to put together and well thought out. The case is great to store the HD in and being bus powered makes it so portable. Great for anyone with an extra 2.5'' HD.

My six-year old laptop finally died, and I was looking for a housing to try and salvage the hard drive. Based on previous recommendations, I chose this one, and I agree: It's a great deal. Installation of the HD couldn't have been easier. Instructions are included on the enclosed CD, but were not really needed. As pointed out by others, even the screws and screw driver are included, along with a case. Thanks TigerDirect and the other reviewers!

Perfect! I got this today to clone my new laptop HDD for an upgrade. Well worth it! Only Negative is that getting the harddrive out of it is tricky because you have to pull it up on an angle because there is little room to slide it. But i discovered that there is just enough to slid it out then pull it up and finish pulling it out. Other then that it's perfect

Excellent!! Works flawlessly! They give you a carry pouch, USB multi-use cable, even the little screw driver to attach 4 lil' screws! I installed a 160GB 2.5 IDE/ATA notebook HD in 60 seconds! (Would have been less but I was talking to my wife while I installed drive!)

I purchased this enclosure to bring my old laptop HDD (PATA) to life. I was surprised to see the enclosure's finish - its amazing. It features the glossy piano finish which would be loved by anyone who sees it - may cause envy in some as well :D. The only problem I encountered was - the enclosure is slim and the included screws to fix the HDD down to the circuit board caused my hdd to not fit in the enclosure (Its a 2 year old 80 Gig disk). I removed the screws and the integration works - it would've been good if Vantec included the Warning lable on the screw's ziplock - I ended up scraping the inside of the enclosure while trying to close the lid with the extra thickness :( It would be great if Vantec changes the design a bit so as to fit the screws through the frame beneath the circuit board - but I guess it may take a while. A great product apart from these shortcomings - and they are just the installation how-to issues. Go get it.
