I have had a couple of other brands of hard drive docks that would fail through extended writes. Not with this one. This issue has not failed on me as soon as. It is also quite rapid and effortless to use. USB three. is good, mainly because I can safely disconnect the drive with no shutting down my computer, as opposed to working with an eSata dock with XP. none I run a computer system repair organization, and am glad to have lastly located a reliable challenging drive dock.

Fantastic Style, high quality building, efficient use of space. HD's seat firmly in place. On/Off button is of a lot greater quality than others. Transfer speed is fantastic. Integrated usb three. cable appears a small low in high quality but gets the job done. Power cord could be a little longer; Only about 30-36" in length.

Looks good. When we tried to plug this in and use it, it continuously appears and disappears... so much so that it is unusable. We are speaking every single second or two. When it did manage to keep on for 5 seconds straight, it often says you require to format the drive just before working with it. Even on drives already formatted and utilized by other docks. I've also had comparable practical experience with Azio ADF-U34, but that one particular manages to stay on for a minute or two at a time. the Eagle ET-CSKSU3-BK has been flawless.

I was looking for a dock that would have a switch in the front to be in a position to turn it on and off with out possessing to reach to the back. This component was exactly correct. The issue was... The difficulty was it broke a bit immediately after a month! 1 day it would just not turn on and on best of that, it erased every little thing I had in that HDD. No massive deal as this was only a backup but the warranty period is gone. It was almost certainly just bad luck as I have few other Vantec merchandise that operate effectively. My recommendation is that you test, test, test your unit as soon as you get it. If it fails you can often send it back.

USB three. Worked a couple of instances but now constantly drops the connection in the middle of a copy. I couldn't maintain it connected extended sufficient to copy a 10 gb file. At 1st I thought it was the UCB three. card I had installed but now it does the exact same thing connected to the usb two. ports. Just purchased a thermaltake, I'll see how that works. When I bougt this Vantec, it was the only a single on the marketplace. Now there is competitors, I would remain away from this a single.

Looks good Doesn't function for the drive I have. I dual boot with XP x86 and Win7 Pro x64 and it did not work with either OS. The light came on and the drive did spin up, windows showed installing device driver and absolutely nothing. No drive, I couldn't even get it via disk management. Soon after some researching this unit utilizes a Jmicron JMS539, at Jmicrons website they say it is ONLY sataII, the drive I have is an old Maxtor 250GB sataI, which could be the challenge. I have an older sata/ide to usb adapter which recognizes the drive though.I also tried 2 different cables and a few other things, I will try with a newer sataII drive and if it still doesn't work it will be acquiring an RMA to Vantec. Works effectively as USB 2.. Has a good blue light. Was delivered in three days.... Thanks NEWEGG! The device was working but not transferring files at the three. speed. I was advised by Vantec to flash the hardware and did. The drive now shuts down if I transfer much more than 1 GB of data from my internal drives to this drive. To insure I had my ducks in a row, I connected a WD external three. USB and it flew like a rocket. At 1 point with the WD I got more than 300MB /sec. transfers. I then put an additional 3.five SATA drive in the Vantec and it failed once again. I am sending this back for refund for defective item. 1st and last Vantec product I will ever buy.

This factor is almost silent when it's operating. It's rather sturdy and is neither too large nor too smaller. Transfer speeds are blazing when going the USB 3. route. Incredibly handy factor to have about for all your challenging drive to hard drive transferring and challenging drive back up needs. None

Strange it didnt work with the newer usb 3. drivers. I tried an older usb three. driver (ver. 1..19.) and it worked. Perhaps windows updates helped too?

Gives you the ability to access any SATA drive up to 2. TB. The plastic molding could be shaped (in the bay) to offer a lot more airflow around the drive without sacrificing strength. May even save them some plastic. About 2Ǚ of a three.5" drive sticks up out of the bay. This gives acceptable surface location for cooling. But, smaller 2.5" drives barely stick out at all. Ultimately, I am quite happy with this dock. :)
