WXP SP3 issues
Comment:
Was looking for a replacement for a broken video card. Could not even load drivers. PC would hang on, New Hardware Found, looking for UAA drivers. SP3 does not support these drivers. Even Safe Mode hung. Putting this card on the shelf. |

Works for me.

I've had e card pictured in the ads for Visiontek and have had the black screen a few times on both the S-Video and DVI connection. The drivers work fine for me. The problem that everyone is experiencing, I think, is that the connections are very sensitive and the connections have to be the tightest you can get and have to be seated just right, especially the DVI connections. When you do get it right, it is beautiful. It's definitely worth the pennies you're spending on it. I have had two issues with it. The first issue is that you cannot install it on a typical motherboard that only has a VGA adapter without first having a video card with S-Video or DVI connections on it. I happen to have one of those, so it was easy. You have to put the older card in and install its drivers first. The second issue I am still working with. I have installed the ATI HDAudio drivers for the DVI-HDMI connection but I have yet to have the HDMI with sound. |

I'll put this review here since the HIS version of this card is no longer available on this site. I'm not a gamer but wanted a card that would solve some video problems on my older PC when it came to 3D mapping and rendering 3D models (like house plans, etc). I also wanted to extend my desktop onto my 52'' Sharp Aquos HDTV to allow me to better share my photo hobby with visiting friends and to watch videos from the PC in HD. After a lot of pain and anguish, it does all of those things well. However, the box (HIS remember) had no manual and the skimpiest quick install I ever saw. The HIS Digital site did not have a manual for this card either. I look for manuals from other companies because ATI licensed this chip set to everyone and his brother but nothing matched my card. An exchange of Emails with HIS and then some creative revision of their instructions got it going. I agree with a post above that this card can extend the life of an older PC but that's about it. |

THE PROBLEM MOST ATI VIDEO CARD BUYERS FACE ARE WEAK FACTORY DRIVERS , TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, I SUGGEST GOING TO WEBSITE OmegaDrivers.net for modified ATI AND NVIDIA DRIVERS THAT CAN CORRECT GAMING ISSUES AND VIDEO CARD FAILURES , ESPECIALLY WITH ATI. |

This card is an inexpensive way to get a few more years out of an older computer without PCIe slots, but if you're building a new computer there are better options out there. My media center PC can run just about everything I've thrown at it on maximum settings at 1024x768. However, it starts lagging at high resolutions (more than 1280x1024) or with a high anti-aliasing setting. (This could be the 3.2 ghz Celeron or DDR 400 memory, not the card.) |

i had this card and it was pretty good. I tried alot of games and it like going 1600 by 1200 with no antialising, hates it. My 3dmark06 was 3309 with an old 754 board. When i took the card back my 6600gt looked real bad. Overall i kinda wish i still had it yet i took it back and am goin the pcie way soon. |

Okay.. on paper this is a wonderful video card.. and i am sure in some aspect of things this video card has wonderful wonderful potential... However this video card is lacking a driver that will enable it to be powerful.. everything lags. Anyways this is a known problem for this video card.. so hopefully for this cheap price you will buy it gambling that they will make a driver for this card soon in the near future |
This card is awesome! I installed it in my son's computer (AMD 3300 with a Gig of Ram) and it will run most PC games very well. Games such as half life series, Left 4 Dead, Mini Ninjas, Combat Arms and more.
