Comment:
I've owned a PCI TV Wonder 650 from ATI for over a year and was looking to add a second tuner so I can watch and record two different channels at once. The 650 chipset is better quality image than the older 550 and 600, so when I saw this unit on sale, I wanted to give it a try.I've just received it and have yet to set it up fully, but the first thing I noticed was the tuner was light grey instead of black like the picture. The remote is black, however. My first impression is I like the setup and build of the unit (lots of connections, HDTV and FM options as well). The connections are snug (the USB on the tuner was a little too tight actually but I wasn't worried it would break at all). While the remote looks good and is an actual ATI rather than a generic, it's been bundled into the package so the receiver is separate from the tuner itself. The software included is pretty good if you don't have Media Center, although most would prefer to use it with that and I’ll be interested to check out the AMD Live! software.Certainly, if you get it on sale, the price is very good and I’d recommend it, but after I’ve tested it with my Windows 7 sandbox PC to confirm the drivers work, I'll hook it up to my HTPC and give a good comparison of actual TV playback/recording versus my current ATI TV Wonder 650 PCI card.

VisionTek TV Wonder 650 Combo USB for PC TV Tuner "Black Box" w/Remote 900193
Cons:dont know yet

Pros:real remote with real buttonsvista64 driver
Comment:
I just use the basic cable service, didn't try anything else. Image quality is more or less the same as my old tv. Looks grainy and fuzzy though when view full size on my 24" widescreen. I didn't install the Catalyst software. I d/l the vista64 driver off the website and configure it in Windows Media Center. The remote works in WMC too. So far I have nothin to complain, I'll add more when I try the ATSC, HDTV.

VisionTek TV Wonder 650 Combo USB for PC TV Tuner "Black Box" w/Remote 900193
Cons:Gets hotter than I tought it would. Not sure if this thing is the cause or it's Vista64's fault, but sometimes I lost signal and then windows freeze and I must do a cold reboot. I didnt find how to configure buttons and it seems that most of these are not used at all with media center. Takes 2 USB port if you want to use the IR controller.

Pros:Gets pretty good tv signal. Works well with Media center. A good TV replacement when you have good lcd screens. RCA + SVideo + cable + digital cable inputs makes it a good receiver.
Comment:
Overall a good tv replacement. I got a good computer and 2 lcd screens and just a old small crt tv, so one of my lcd can almost be reserved for my tv while I'm not using it.
