WACOM PTK840 USB Tablet - Large/Black
Cons:Overall size and weight.

Pros:Active area size, amount of free nibs, matte finish.
Comment:
The intuos4 Large has one of the perfect sizes for drawing like you do in real life. The area is comparable to a normal sketch pad. The surface has a matte finish and is indeed replaceable. This matte finish replicates texture of natural paper feeling when drawing. Also, all those marks and scratches that accumulate over time can be be refreshed with a new overlay. The pen comes with 10 additional nibs. The speed in which nibs wear out depends on your usage. So far, I have hardly done one in in the last few months. Plus, NCIX does sell more replacements if you do need more. In addition, marks and traces will naturally occur but are not like dents that would be noticeably interfering with strokes.Avoid cleaning it with chemicals. I realized that if you do, the matte finish would be dissolved and turn into a slippery plastic surface to work with. The main issue i have with this tablet is the overall size. In addition to the active area being 12x8, it extends by like 1.5inches to accommodate the macros. This makes it pretty hard drawing on small tables or keyboard areas for desks. Though it works perfectly on my lap though. In addition to the size, the weight that accompanies it makes it a bit too heavy to travel with. It's like carrying another overgrown laptop.I recommend getting the Intuos4Large for people who need lots of space and work at home most. Otherwise I would recommend the Medium for the portability.

WACOM PTK840 USB Tablet - Large/Black
Cons: - Pen nibs run out fast on the surface- Have to purchase an additional replacement surface right away since I know the surface will need replacing soon along the line (I'd say buy a couple replacement surfaces if you use a tablet every day)- Replacement pen nibs are a must- Only comes with one thick-grip pen; have to buy a thinner grip pen- Must not press too hard or can damage the pen (sort-of obvious)

Pros: - Professional-grade Tablet- Very thin profile- Large surface, responsive, easy to set up
Comment:
This tablet is a satisfying buy. It's definitely the best out there. The biggest drawback is the cost of accessories, and the fact that they are mandatory purchases (who spends $400+ on a tablet and doesn't use it often? you'll have to get the optional replacement parts for a bit later down the line). So add that into the total cost.NCIX was very competitive about price-matching, a definite bonus which brought me to NCIX to make this purchase. I tried buying through Futureshop and they refused to pricematch against a specific competitor; NCIX not only pricematched: they beat the price of the lowest priced competitor by $20. Experiences like that increase my loyalty to NCIX by quite a lot.

wacom the only way to go
Comment:
I'm a 3d artist, and i have owned other tablets in the past. I can tell you from my professional experience that Wacom is really the only way to go, if you're in the art industry. If you're a hobbyist, I would say save your money and go with a cheaper brand, cuz these things are expensive but if you're a pro, don't compromise- the performance benefits you get from a wacom tablet far exceed others.....
