WD My Book 3TB USB3.0 Hard Drive With Security Local and Cloud Backup
Cons:Need both usb and power cable to connect
Pros:Cheap storage Comment:
Bought both WD and Seagate 3TB desktop. Preferred the WD one, though the Seagate one is a little bit smaller. Don't buy over $100. Got both each at $99 when real sale. |

WD My Book 3TB USB3.0 Hard Drive With Security Local and Cloud Backup
Cons:Power brick interferes with plugs adjacent to it.
Pros:QuietGood price Comment:
Seems like a pretty solid external hard drive, WD name so it should be good quality. I don't really pay attention to transfer speeds for externals but it seems quick enough. No issues other than the power brick being annoying since it takes up too much room on a power strip. |

WD My Book 3TB USB3.0 Hard Drive With Security Local and Cloud Backup
Cons:Larger wall outletNo fan to dissipate heatDrive inside is only 5400 RPM
Pros:Whisper QuietSleek enclosure designLower power consumptionNice soft white lightLots of storageGood ventilationCheaper than the drive inside Comment:
I have only had the drive only slightly less than a week but I'm already satisfied. The enclosure is very nice and can be laid down flat or straight up depending on the space you need. The drive inside is only 5400 RPM and is a WD WD30EZRX. Pro on this is that the drive doesn't get very hot and it only consumes about 6W of power on high load but if you remove it from the enclosure don't expect it to be too speedy. The enclosure offers plenty of ventilation and it never got very hot for me at all after transfering files to it constantly over a few hours. The light on the enclosure is a nice soft white and isn't too bright or dim. The cost of this unit was cheaper than the drive inside for me. On the negative side I would have preferred the power brick to be built into the power cord somewhere around the middle, but instead you get a larger plug that can take up a bit of extra room on the power bar. There is no fan to dissipate the heat but it doesn't get too hot ever so I'm not too concerned about things except for perhaps dust building up. I suppose if those negatives would have been addressed the overall price may have increased. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. |
