hard drive was running constantly then machine slowed down i figured i had bloat ware and was going to clean it up then it just died massive bad sectors. lost a lot of data. i may need to send it in for recovery to get some of the baby photos back. i just need to back up more often than once a year. |

I've seen many people looking to build a computer and this hard drive has been recommended a lot. Its because it works perfectly fine and fast.Straight to the bad part is the noise. I don't mind it. For those who like to complain about every small issue, it will probably give them something to complain about. Its not noisy to any effect that it would annoy you, but its just a factor to consider if you want quietness. I've had computers from big box stores that have been noisier so I really don't know what everyone's complaining about. Its quite nice to know the computer is working sometimes. When I load up a custom map game on Starcraft 2, I can hear it load for a few seconds and then stop. At that point, it stops loading because its waiting for the slowest computer to finish loading a section of the map. Once thats started, the hard drive will load again and finish loading the map. Then I wait a little more for others to finish loading, then the game starts. Its nice to know I'm not the slow one. :) |

This is basically where you're going to end up if you want the best of all worlds. Speed, space and price are all balanced. Not much of a difference with the SATA3 interface. Copied 606GB 56x HD movies off the RAID5 server through a CAT5e gigabit network and was getting 75 MB/s average. I don't know if the HDD or the network is the bottleneck. |

This is a fast HDD and I'm planning to buy another one to make it faster in RAID mode. Also, it's cheaper than a small SSD. It's Western Digital quality so if you're looking for a lot of fast and quality drive, it's probably a HDD to consider. Got no issue for over a month. |

Works great. Nothing more I can say that hasn't already been said. Wait for sale prices or price match. For an HDD, Caviar Blacks have always served me well. They do take some time to spin up if used as a media drive, but that's inherent with all idling disk drives. |

I keep coming back to WD drives and can't complain as they never let me down. I have the FALS edition as well which is the twin to FAEX besides being SATAII. Both drives are great but this one benches slightly better not really noticeable in daily use but it doesn't hurt either. |

I like the hard drive for it's speed, its a perfect storage drive for main apps, games and stuff. I keep my OS and prefered games on my SSD so I needed a quick large capacity drive and this one fits exactly my needs. The price is a little high for a 1tb disks but the speeds makes up for it ^^
