Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
seems to be louder than most not the performance I expected
Pros: increased speed loading programs easy set-up/compatibility good quality for price/paid $98 on sale Comment:
I am overall pretty happy with this hd but I was expecting a little more bang with the dual processors and the 64mb cache.I did notice programs loaded a little bit faster though but also a fair bit of noise as well.Does anyone else notice this is louder than most ? |

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
SATA3 isn't too usefulLoud
Pros: FastDual actuators64MB Cache Comment:
Pretty good overall. I bought 3 of these for my computer. Same dual actuator techology as the 2TB ones which seems to be very useful on it. I believe these have higher desnity platters than the SATA2 version. SATA3 only came in use during burst read, when it's reading from the cache. It's louder than most other harddrive but isn't too bad. |

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
none.. seriously.
Pros: -Fast access times/app launching-64MB buffer-Dual actuators-Fastest 7200rpm drive on the planet Comment:
Running this drive on a SATA 1 bus without issue. I have an 80mm 34 CFM fan pointed right at the bottom of it and it stays around 36-38C all the time heavy load or not.To Martin_H (2 reviews below):How can you call it not being an SSD a con? If you want an SSD then buy an SSD. If you bought a Honda car would you say its con was that it is not a Lexus? WOW The ignorance is baffling.. |

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
None
Pros: Large capacity, good price Comment:
Installed this with the Gigabyte P55A-UD3 ATX LGA1156. Haven`t really noticed a difference with SATA3 compared to my 1 year old HD. However, it is a good product in terms of price and quality. |

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
not comparable to ssd
Pros: Caviar black quality Comment:
Could have purchased a green 1 TB for 30% less or paid 30% more for a 2 TB. Not into movies so don't need the 2 TB. Time and hassle it takes to rebuild data on a failed drive is not worth the 30% savings. Prefer to stick with better quality. |

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
Sata 3, not really useful yet
Pros: Quick, great price point Comment:
This is a great drive for the price. I went from a full 250gig drive to this beauty, I think I might get another one. |

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
-not silent-SATA3 is just a marketing gimmick at this point
Pros: -inexpensive-very fast Comment:
installed as a single drive, fresh OS install in an older machine, very fast and no issues whatsoever with installation. I do not notice any speed differences between this single drive and 2 older 500GB in RAID0. |

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:sata 3 is pointless due to the physical limitations of the serial interface.
Pros:Nice size, works nice Comment:
Better off getting the sata2 version of this drive for cheaper. Hard drives only transfer at around 75mbps so unless you create a very large aray of these drive you will never utilize a sata 1 let alone a sata2 or 3 capabilities. Pointless having a sata3 interface at this point. |

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:Not as fast as implied.
Pros:Solid performance, fast transfers, yet quiet. Comment:
I was quiet glad to aquire this beauty. While my current system doesn't utilize it to it's fullest (being Sata2 mobo) it still is a great performer. However, from the reviews I've read and the exceptional buffer/transfer rates it has I had hoped for more. I did reduce the OS partition to 100g for best speed, and it's certainly faster than my old drives. Perhaps when I upgrade to the upcoming Crosshair IV I'll see a better boost. All in all, I certainly am content and will likely buy another down the road. |

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:Not an SSD?
Pros:SATA3, good deal on sale! Comment:
I'm using this as my OS drive in my new rig. Gigabyte 790FXTA-UD5 board with onboard SATA3. However I don't see any performance difference between this one and the SATA2 version? If you can get it for a close price to the WD1001FALS, go for it but don't expect "SATA3 performance" |

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:- SATA3 not really optimized or supported widely yet- There are quieter drives and larger
Pros:- Large size, relative good value $/mb.- Latest WD Drive with SATA3 Support- 5 year warranty- Not overly loud- Runs cool Comment:
I needed a new system drive anyways for my OS so I thought I'd pick this up with a price match. Futureproof a bit with the SATA3 capability but it hasn't given me noticable performance difference versus my old Seagate ST3500630AS drive. Hoping new firmware for this drive and better SATA3 support come out soon. Waiting on more testing to see if I should get the Asus U3S6 to hookup the SATA3 for my Asus P7P55D motherboard... |
I bought it because im planning to move to SSD later this year, and i must say that i dont feel bad with this drive its really fast and when it will end up as storage ill still enjoy the quick access time
