It's a fast hard drive that's backed by a 5 year warranty. That's 4 years more than a Seagate hard disk. It's still expensive at $100. It's too noisy when doing seek and write operations so it doesn't provide an enjoyable user experience. I hear its annoying sound just by surfing the internet. I'm returning it for a quieter drive. |

Both my WD 1TB Blacks have been running 24/7 flawlessly for 2 years now. To max performance gains, I installed windows on one and games on the other. Boot and load times were significantly better than my old Seagate 500 GB. Although it doesn't bother me, the drives are a lot more noisy when seeking than the seagate. |

- Quickly- Quiet- Worked out of the box - Stopped operating immediately after about a month, the complete challenging drive just freezes up, applications won't run, install, do something. I utilized to be able to boot my personal computer up in five-ten seconds, it now requires anywhere from 30min to 1 hour if im fortunate.-Support is horrible, I told the guy I had an internal tricky drive, he kept speaking about downloading firmware for an external difficult drive. I corrected him about five occasions but he kept repeating the very same factors about external tricky drives, so I sooner or later hung up. I'm just going to try and get a replacement, but immediately after my encounter, I will not get from Western Digital again. |

I bought this hard disk as a storage medium to offload my important content off my SSD, so far its been great. I can't really comment on a Windows-based rig, but for a Mac (hackintosh), installation is seamless. I keep my users home folder on the HDD, and the rest of the data on the SSD. |

This is a great drive. It is fairly fast as well for a mechanical drive. IF you are using an SSD for your OS drive, one or two of these drives should cover all of your storage needs. That is, unless of course you are pirating movies and games non stop, wink wink. Not that anyone ever does such things. |

Quiet,rapid,efficient, 6gb/sec not to mention exceptional cost for what you're acquiring even at 7200 rpm. WD is an excellent organization and this is an excellent drive. Extremely reliable. Definately reccomended. I did the math, and this is the finest bang for the buck. not SSD I see people today write about noise and "oh it's only 7200 rpm, thats no very good!" Listen, rpm this drive moves. period. unless you're going to ssd youre NOT going to notice any distinction in the ten,000 rpm. I don't care what any person says. You're paying beneath dollars for 6 gb/sec, SATA, and 1 TB HDD that will do exactly what you want it to do. Men and women like to get all technical and yes maybe your drive is 1럼 of a second more quickly but honestly who cares? Your crazy to not give this drive a opportunity especially for first time builders. Flawless. |

I put this into a new i7 gaming rig, have about 40 games loaded on this drive already and everything loads way faster than I expected. The most detailed outdoor areas of BF3, Skyrim and Crysis 2 load in 20-30 seconds tops, indoor maps are much faster. Less intense games load next to instantly.If you're on a budget and debating between SSD and this, just get this and a better video card. SSD does nothing for your framerates and this drive provides beyond reasonable load times for gaming.
