Picked this up on sale for $114 and so for that price there are few complaints. I am using this as my primary drive for now, and the only problem that I have is that it's quite loud. Fortunately its not constantly loud but only when reading or writing, so it's definitely tolerable. |

have had drive operating 24Ο for 1 month so far. Can hardly hear it with the stock case fans running. need to have a fan on them if you plan on operating these round the clock. but temps have been normal for me with a small 80 cfm fan running on them. I have two set in raid . considering the 64 MB cache, 4.two sec response time, sata iii and the raid configuration,I expected a little much better than 211 read speed. But I ain't complaining. That's fairly excellent for old style hdd's As a system builder, I would suggest these hdd. Also, preserve in thoughts you can\'t create a raid over 2tb. |

Quick, Dependable, Quiet. Caviar black drives are good, they hardly ever have problems. (I have never had one fail and Ive owned four) If you have a lot of data that you want to shop and not lose; get 1 of these drives! None Runs great couldn't be much more content material. |

Great 7,200 RPM hard drive, makes my games a lot faster than with my old hard drive. Only problem is, why did it come in a plastic bag, with nothing else than the little silicca thing to keep it dry? I thought there would at least be a few screws in there. Oh well, I had remaining screws from my case, I used them. Would have been cool if it came in a cardboard box, I like keeping the boxes of stuff I buy to re-use them later (or to sell things in their original box when I don't use them anymore!) |

I got 2 of these on sale for about ์ each and every a year ago. they work wonderfully. 2TB and I can retailer all the films, games, programs, and so forth.. I want. I am at the moment employing 1 as a secondary drive for issues like steam, motion pictures, and anything else. 1 of the drives got a "SMART" error about a week back, and i've only had it for about two years now. It could have been since I was employing it as an external storage device and kept unplugging and plugging it in - and moving it. or it could have just been a defective drive. IDK only took off one particular egg mainly because of the drive failing immediately after a year and a half of use. I can't take off any a lot more mainly because Western Digital has a **ၷ year warranty*** on these drives!!!RMA took about a week and I am receiving shipped a new drive with a new warranty. thumbs up Western Digital. |

Worked for a week Died following a week. Purchased more than a month ago. Had to wait for the 1155 motherboards to come out so it was out of newegg warrenty ahead of i even installed it. Crashed 1 week following installation. No OS located, No tough drive located. RMA to WesternDigital. THIS harddrive is notorious for this dilemma. Not certain if I will even use the new 1. Have a feeling it will fail in a few weeks to a month also. |

I have had this hard drive for about 2 years and a quarter now and it has been failing ever since a year ago. ive never had evin more than 200 gb full on it ever. and its slow all the time , lags all my games. this has been my second wd hdd that failed on me before the warranty expiration date =(.and for the past year ive tryed everything, and i mean everything to install my videocard drivers properly, and no matter what i do, i get a message that says install your video drivers? and this hdd sounds like it is loading all the time and constantly, (very anoying and medium loud)never again. i baught this hdd here but i ts been too long to remember the order id.but this actuall a 1 star or no star! |

Noticeably more rapidly than my last 360GB SATA II 3Gb/s Western Digital. I've not run throughput tests, but it's actually effortless to SEE the distinction in file transfers, disk writes, and so on. Quiet, even with two drives in the technique.Simple to install - gotta enjoy SATA cables compared to IDE. The drive can run ever so slightly warm under load, so it's not a poor idea to make certain you have decent airflow about the drive(s). It's hard to believe we can now get 1 and 2 TeraByte drives for desktop systems. Does any individual else recall when we were told we'd never ever need to have a lot more than 100 MByte drives for a Windows process?? |

64 MB cache, 7200 RPM, reasonably quickly. Really high failure rates. My assistance: Seek substitute storage, stay away from these.I've now bought or received 4 of these drives (had initially ordered 2 for a RAID 1 mirror). Within a couple weeks the initial one ordered from Newegg failed. I purchased an additional drive locally which also failed inside a handful of weeks and upon installing the replacement I received from Western Digital for the very first failure the other Newegg bought drive failed prior to the array could total the mirroring, leaving my RAID 1 array DEAD and losing a large quantity of information. (I may be able to recover some files here and there but it WILL call for a full reinstall as there are read errors spread throughout the drive)Also, I extremely recommend that you perform a complete scan of your drives once you receive them to verify they read all blocks reasonably. MHDD is a decent tool for this. |

The value for a 1TB is great, getting the only pro. The festering grinding sound of the HD whilst running. Sometimes I am afraid to even use the computer to keep away from hearing the sound.
