- Purchased 6 at the same time. Arrived in what looked like 1ǘ of a 20-pack's styrofoam holder, packed inside a larger box with other ordered items. Appears to have protected them properly.- All 6 spun up w/ no troubles. Have 5 in a RAID-5- Have not noticed any speed issues so far - None, but - Have not benchmarked, so no official speed facts, but undoubtedly keeps up with what I've been throwing at them.

First drive was doa; didn't feel fantastic to begin with WD and a black drive that way, but second one, rapid rma' as always to the newegg team; not only was it excellent; but right after reading transfer critiques sata III vs. sata II; i wasn't expecting too significantly, but was i shocked, yes perhaps the higher cache but with big transfer file, 45mb/s on sata II; 55-65mb/s on sata III, not impressed; encoding went from 20min on half hour shows to 8mins on sata III. i'm content. For bang vs. buck; this a single is huge cache, speed, and is expense successful. worried on doa's? get extended warranty, or don't be concerned on it, rma procedure is painless. for the ones saying that ssd is more rapidly and much better; i video encode; ssd would be burned out in a year, this will final me 5 years+. SSD is more rapidly, but not expense powerful, mechanical drives are not issue of past, not till we get to petabyte chips in star trek, then we'll see. so its not an ssd; can't have ssd on what i do, no its not a velicorapter; but price range wise, its the subsequent ideal issue for a faction of the expense. WD has a wide selection on the Sata III platform, sizes, capacities, drives are cool, quiet, when they operate, they are difficulty cost-free. my five year old 320GB seagate is nonetheless going, but is now too slow, little for its purpose, i'm sending it to my new whs develop to finish its life in server duty. If i get 2-3 years outta this, i got my money out of it, most likely last full five or six, but by then we'll be booting off some large drives; 5TB; 10TB drives.

For under 65.00 you can't beat 500GB. In raid0, it score the lowest @ 5.9 bogging down the rest of my technique. The drive perform well, don't misunderstand this critique. With all I put into the method, I must have just taken the plunge and went with a SSD boot drive. I'll add it in the close to future. These two drive will go nicely as storage.

Bought a couple of these a while back when my old Seagate hard drive died on me. These have worked flawlessly since at good speed. I would recommend Caviar Black to anyone looking to buy a hard drive.

N/A Died after a few successful boots into the bios only... under no circumstances got to format... hangs at SATA detection. Hitachi drive (bought at identical time) has no troubles on same MB.Careful... Major Bro censoring bad evaluations here - I attempted to post this a few days ago.

Wonderful for the price tag, upgrading from an IDE to this was a enormous performance jump and offered how SSDs will be coming down in value shortly, can't complain. Windows gave every thing else in my setup a 7.three-7.five out of 7.9, but gave this a 5.9 :[

It installed without issue and appears have to faster and quieter than the dead Maxtor it replaced. I had to Google how to get Windows 7 to recognize the drive. There were no directions with it. Not a big deal.

Appears stable, runs wonderful, not noisy at all that I can notice. Decent capacity for an OS / gaming drive. None Bought this drive for gaming, installed Windows 7 on it and all my games from Steam. That's all this drive is utilized for in my method and it does this task extremely well. It has more than adequate room for Windows 7 plus my games, with the page file on it's own separate partition. Really like WD drives.

Runs rapid, cool, quiet. Boots up into Windows 7 64-bit in about 20 seconds right after the BIOS post. None at all. This is my first SATA 6.0Gb/s HDD. It seems just a little bit quicker than my older 3.0Gb/s drive. Nevertheless the identical old 5.9 WEI. Only an SSD with make that score go greater, which is on my wishlist for when the prices come down, hopefully by next year.

Works good SATA 6. is a little misleading, as other reviews have stated. The HDD might properly be capable of the speeds but the transfer medium is not. Would definitely purchase once more, wonderful performance and a great value.

Super simple to install. Quiet. Worked great - Windows 7 formatted it & installed without having a hitch. Can't feel of any. Only had this about a month, but my other machine has a Cavier blue 500gb & it's twice as loud as this 1 is (maybe 3 occasions as loud).

This drive replaced a WD 1TB Caviar Green drive as my OS & plan drive.- Huge gaming improvement! This drive cut the load times by a lot more than half for Fallout 3. Transitioning amongst rooms is instantaneous. Dialog is rapid and seamless. Even though venturing outdoors, the screen would consistently glitch and freeze; now I can hardly notice something at all. It seems to have had an improvement on other games as properly.- Quiet. I noticed certainly no distinction in drive noise among this drive and my original "Green" drive. None! I usually wait a small whilst to write reviews, but I had such a great experience playing Fallout three with this drive that I just couldn't wait!- Stick with it! At 1st I, like a lot of others, did not notice an improvement in Windows boot time or operation. I blame that on a fresh OS install and fragmentation on the drive. It seems to be quicker now.

Quiet, reliable, fast. What more could you ask for in a HDD? The thing has been flawless and the fastest HDD I have had as I am not going to jump on ssd yet. This is my main OS drive and its golden. Will for sure be going to get more WD Caviar Blacks once HDD prices come down again since the flooding.

new construct and believed this drive would be a very good fit for value and performance but . . . DOA - boot sectors corrupt. Unable to format or reformat or do something with it. Kind of stopped the build dead in its tracks. Waiting for my RMA drive. At least Newegg makes it uncomplicated to do. Although I do have to pay ผ to ship it back to them. expense of doing enterprise I guess.

None For Windows 7 users;Make certain to format the drive, Or it wont show up under "Computer" tab.Correct click on "Computer" from the start menu then navigate to "Manage", Then select "Disk Management".Discover your drive and format, appreciate!

Extremely superior and rapid drive. I don't get the 6gb/s speed out of it but it's nevertheless fairly quickly, only 500gb for 60 bucks. would have gone with a 3.0gb/s drive if I'd have identified it wasn't going to be as fast as it claims. but it's nevertheless a excellent drive.
