I bought 2 of these drives back in 2010. Well, the SATA2 versions to be honest. At first, I bought them to create a RAID1 volume on my motherboard, but the RAID software was so glitchy that I decided to drop the ball on RAID1.About 1 1/2 year after I bought them, one of the drive was having bad sectors issues. Because these drives are 5 years warranty, I contacted WD and got my RMA very quickly. I was surprised to receive a brand new (not refurbished) drive and the SATA3 version.Performances wise, these drives are good. They are also quiet. I recently got an SSD, so the WD Blacks that I have are not used as storage. I often run tests on them to make sure that there are no bad sectors and so far so good.I recommend them, even if one of them failed. This is why RMA is for. WD support was great to deal with. |

Allready had to RMA the drivea year lator but other then that ive had no issues and the RMA took a week to get me a harddrive back from the date i sent it. Would recommend to anyone who dosent want a SSD yet or a amzing drive to put your games on to boost load times |

Cons:Gets a little warm but nothing majr, maybe around 40 Celsius (100ish F)

Ive had this for about three years, Originally had it as my main boot drive but now i have an SSD and this is my music, movies etc drive and it works just fine. It does get warm to the touch but hasnt been a problem at all, speed is very consistent and very fast for a non SSD, I have a lot of games on this that still run just fine, just not quite as fast as my SSD. I will definitely buy another, albeit probably bigger, maybe 1 TB, for my next rig as a storage drive. Would definitely recommend Caviar Black. |
