When 1st installed, this HDD was great, and what I expected from WD. Nevertheless, immediately after only a handful of weeks of use, it's showing the slowing pattern of Seagate drives of late. I'll have to monitor as it continues. Do your self a favor and just spend the additional cash for a Western Digital Caviar Black

Great Value, Super fast shipping! Thank you NewEgg!! Western Digital have to seriously have some poor high quality control now. What happened Western Digital? You used to be a single of the top two. This drive came defective, The ROM was corrupt and the drive would not function. Fortunately I have a friend that has the knowledge and the tools to repair/rewrite the ROM and then the drive worked flawlessly. Saving me an RMA and generating my client happy she didn't have to wait even longerSad factor is, this is the second WD Blue drive I have bought with the identical issue. Genuinely Western Digital? Get with the system!

Owned this drive for about 2 years now. Rock Solid, hardly ever any difficulties with it. Turned it on these days played a few games, turned it off. wanted to upgrade the ram in it so i took the stick out got the number and placed it back in. turned on my pc and poof. Challenging drive faliure. died out of no exactly where :( Don't know why it died. Could have been a number of factors which i can't clarify. didn't give any warning signs of it dieing, just died. RMA'ing another 1 with WD. worth paying the shipping on this drive.

Low cost My brother installed this difficult drive and does this for a living but did not notice the stcker stated 160GB but only had 120GB. Lost 40 GB and did not come across out until way too late. Need to be in a position to get in touch with to Newegg with these complications by e-mail, chat or telephone that is not hard. Emails did not get answered.

Installed it in a Power Mac G5 1.6ghz with no complications. Running fine so far. None. Installing the drive in the G5 was a snap. Cables and mounting screws had been already in the case by the spare bay.

-Good price Doa?See "other thoughts". I got this for replacing a dead OEM Difficult drive one an XPS 400 Desktop, and immediately after getting the raplacemet for the RAM I realized that the problem wasn't the drive itself but rather the settings in the BIOS!!! Went below SATA> Changed the controller settngs from AHCI to PATA/IDE and what do you know challenge solved, I had overlooked that small problem with AHCI and Windows XP unless you are working with the drivers @ the installation time then you're set, otherwise set it to operate in IDE mode.

-Low cost / GB at time of acquire. -Each drives of this model I have owned have died within a year and a half of ownership.-High level of defragmentation for a WD drive.-Very noisy little hard drive. For the price / GB this drive is not worth replacing, I will devote the extra 15$ and purchase the black devices from not on. I was really disappointed when the second of the two zonked out on me.

I bought two in 2007. They are still kicking like it's 1999 (i.e. Y2K party for those who didn't get it). They never gave me any troubles or corrupt data and has survived Windows XP and is currently running Windows 7.They are so quiet. The only time I hear them is if I stick my head down to my laptop or computer case and listen carefully. My CPU and case fans are large 鲸 mm) so they do not make a lot of noise either. They didn't increase in size automatically as the years progressed :( One is a backup drive and the other is the OS drive. I'm going to be putting them in RAID soon for additional speed, and use a WD 640GB drive as my backup.

Excellent drive, decent space, fantastic cost. Incredibly quiet, too. I'm very satisfied with this purchase. None, this thing has been genuinely cooperative. XP doesn't recognize AHCI SATA... had to set this to Native IDE prior to it in fact worked.

An economical rapid storage resolution. Could in no way get it to cook me dinner. Got two of these the other day, to my surprise newegg has enforced a much superior packaging for HDD's. I have not had a DOA ever considering that. These drives can automatically detect if its connected to a 1.5gb/s or a 3gb/s connection with out the need of a jumper. They are extremely quiet, and fast when transferring massive files, but at 160gb capacity it will fill up before you know it. A definite superior purchase for widespread storage.

It works. Hasn't failed on me but. It's only a small drive, it's a little too costly right now. I'm employing it on my dual boot PC and I've installed Ubuntu on it. Since Ubuntu isn't my major OS, 160GB is sufficient for me to play around in the OS. I have Windows 7 installed on my 1TB.
