superior drive for a excellent cost, i have usually liked WD's tricky drives, havent had a poor one yet. i got two of these to run in a raid for my new Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, i was hopeing to at least get in the mid to high 6 Win Score but even in a raid I nevertheless only get a five.9 similar as in a differant single drive comp i built. Win Score7.37.57.27.two5.9 :(Phen II x4 955BE, 4gig ddr3-1600, gtx260 videocard, 2x250gig 鸴gig) raid , no more than clocking as of yet.... |

None Bought this as a hot spare for my RAID 6. Very first clue the drive was DOA: it would not zero out. Drive failed various drive test on BSD, Red Hat, and Windows. Information Lifeguard test failed too. RMA from WD issued, waiting on a replacement. I may well modify my assessment once I get a replacement drive. |

It functions. What more can you say immediately after a month of ownership? Had it on my doorstep in record time in a box in pristine condition. I purchased this to replace a nine year old drive that was starting to show adverse modifications in S.M.A.R.T. parameters. I don't actually want 250GB, but memory is so affordable these days why not?! Carved out a 256MB, 1GB, and 20GB partition to install my OS...what to do with the remaining GB's? Not truly a con, I constantly forget the OEM drives don't come with cables. If I didn't have a number of laying around, I would have had to order 1 and wait or (horror of horrors) go purchase one at one particular of those brick and mortar electronic retailers. If you don't have an added SATA cable make certain you add one to your order. |

Cheap, fast, trustworthy brand None so far. Others have complained about acquiring these DOA or that they cease operating soon after a whilst. I've had challenging drives from most all producers and they've all at least 1 time or yet another had troubles, but Wester Digital have given me the least amount of complications.-AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition three.1GHz (N82E16819103680)-ASUS M4A78 Plus AM3/AM2+/AM2 Motherboard (N82E16813131381)-G.SKILL 4GB ƒ x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) (N82E16820231122)-SAPPHIRE 100295HDMI Radeon HD 4670 512MB (N82E16814102854)-Western Digital Caviar Blue WD2500AAKS 250GB Tough Drive (N82E16822136161)-Sony Optiarc AD-7240S-0B 24X DVD/CD SATA (N82E16827118030)-Ultra LSP550 550-Watt Power Provide (ULT-LSP550)-MASSCOOL 9025B1M3ǚ 90mm Case Fan (N82E16835150031)-Alpha and Omega BOX-MK-BK INTERNAL 5.25" STORAGE BOX (N82E16811997011)-APEX Computer-389-C ATX Mid Tower Computer system Case (N82E16811154095) |

I have all WD drives, four SATA II, 2 IDE. I have in no way, even with this one, heard any noise nor vibrations other than the typical HDD hum. 7200 RPMs compared to 5400, big distinction to me. Fantastic drive. I'm sticking with WD for confident. I have used WD drives for more than 5 years and by no means had one fail but. (knock on wood) It would be nice, if even in the oem version, if at least a jumper, that expenses what....a penny to a manufacturer, to be included with it. Not that I necessary it, but it does have jumper pins and somebody might. Windows 7 Experiece Index only provides this HDD a five.9. This makes the lowest score in my index by far, with all other items at least a 7.5 and greater. Not a major deal, but would've liked to noticed a larger score. |

Affordable, quiet, and no concerns on the complete. I have employed absolutely nothing but Western Digital drives for many years and can uncover little the fault them on. Not positive if this is a con or not as I am not sure how long these ought to last. I have owned 5 of these drives for 4+ years and have had 1 failure in that time. Is that a excellent record or negative??? I have been making use of these in a 4 challenging drive RAID 10 Array for a number of years and had one HD failure in that time. Recent got an HD failure warning and, even though rebuilding the array fixed the dilemma, I purchased this most current drive as a backup for when required. |

Newegg sent me an invitation to rate this drive so here I am, It is to early to say considerably and the 5 stars is mainly because It installed properly and passed various benchmark test with no Difficulties. It also arrived to my doorstep genuinely fast in contrast to my PCI card that was ordered five minutes latter by means of Newegg and It took 8 days to travel 60 miles utilizing the U.S. postal service..... None as of now but it commonly takes a few months of use to create Challenging drive Problems..... Back In the late 1990s when I built my initially computers I had a run of bad WD challenging drives, I started utilizing Maxtor drives and never had an Problem but Maxtor was purchased out by Seagate so Maxtor Is no much more. I have been working with Seagate since but believed I would also try WD one last time, so fare it has been about 6 month on a 500G WD drive with no Difficulties, Now It is time to see what the two 250G drives do, only time will Tell.... |

One of these drives get an average of 103 MB/s, max of 129 MB/s. RAID0ƒ drives striped) I get an average of 178 MB/s, and 229 MB/s max! Incredibly Superior! |

Simple to install No mounting hardware, guidelines, or genuinely anything at all. although this was somewhat expected for on-line version. For last 16years Ive been playing with my own PC's this was the 1st time out of those 16years of utilizing Western Digital drives that I got one that slipped past the QA somehow. The drive came with a preinstalled protected and incredibly faulty boot sector containing window files in it. |

Very quiet, a lot quick, dirt affordable, additional capacity than I can use none All our desktops use a central server for storage, so all the local difficult drive needs to hold is the neighborhood operating program. This indicates I only will need to use much less than 10 GB of space. I necessary a low-cost hard drive that was rapidly and silent, and this fit the bill perfectly. Lately I use SSD's for this purpose, but a semi-recent tough drive seemed sufficient for our slowest desktop, and it saved us a lot of dollars over a 60GB SSD. |
