Cons:- None
Pros:- Not too noisy- Western Digital quality and warranty Comment:
I bought this drive for a new build and so far i have been happy with it. Windows 7 loads in 20-25 seconds and the drive is not too noisy and does not run too hot. The price was also good when PMed. Would buy again. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:- None
Pros:- Quiet- Works well; like any other drive- Very quick- 640GB drive for a good price Comment:
I bought this to go along with my new build and I am happy with it. I got this for around $72 and it was worth every penny for a 640GB drive. Runs quiet and boots up in less than 20 seconds on my core i7 rig. It doesn't come with cables but that's the same for all OEM hard drives. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:Doesn't come with SATA cable.
Pros:Capacity, speed, warranty, price. Comment:
This drive works great; I chose it because I only buy Western Digital Hard drives, and on sale this one offered the best price to feature ratio. It's fast, reliable, fairly quiet, and had a much greater capacity than was needed for this build. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:None really.
Pros:Fast, quiet Comment:
Seeing the price point of the WD Blacks, this is not a bad option either. These drives are quiet and fast - must be platters of 320. Impressive drives that continue to do well...WD has a fairly impressive record and seem to be on top of the ball compared to other brands now. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:None
Pros:FastQuietPrice Comment:
Very nice drive. Storage wasn't the issue when I selected this drive - it was simply a matter of bang:buck. The speed is decent, and it is surprisingly quiet. I didn't even bother fiddling with the AAM setting to reduce seek noise. My case does have a semi-soft mounting system though. |

Fantastic Drive
Comment:
Ordered this drive and a docking station (star teck U2E) and it works great! It took all of 2 min's to initialize, format, partition and I was up and running. No bad sectors found - all 640GB responded (less the reserve area). You absolutely cannot beat this for the $$$. running XP Pro; 4 GB memory; dual core 2.6 ghz. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:none really considering the price
Pros:Good capacity, good value Comment:
Bought this as a main drive for my system. SSD's are still a little pricey. And this thing has great speed, not too expensive, and has been pretty reliable. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:nothing that would keep me from buying this again
Pros:good performance and low noise considering the priceruns fairly cool Comment:
Good value - one of the best price/gigabyte ratios at the time I was buying. Not the fastest drive, but it's perfect for a secondary storage drive, and you're not paying a premium for speed that you don't need.Noise is relatively low - better than my older 250gb seagate - but still hear the seeks above the fan noise in my box.I would buy this drive again. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:Loud seek noiseOnly 3 year warranty
Pros:Large capacityLow price when on saleWorks in RAID Comment:
I got 2 of these to put in RAID1, and it works fine in this setup. Reviews say they're quiet, but I found them quite loud, especially when seeking or loading applications. They're probably the loudest drives I have. I would not recommend them for a quiet build, but they're fast and cheap. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:none so far
Pros:Quality brandQuietpretty cheap Comment:
Can't really comment on speed, as I put this in a USB enclosure. But it's definitely quieter than my Seagates. I also consider WD to be the best brand when it comes to HDD's and this was actually the cheapest 640GB I could find at the time. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:After 6 months usage, the 75a7b SMART showing that spinup time has increased, so i'm guessing theres already wear.during heavy random seek, there is some noise (but still very quiet.
Pros:Good performance once the 75a7b were set to AAM 254. 12 ms seek times. Newer 22A7B comes with AAM set to 254 already, so its also very quickVery quiet. Comment:
Overall very good drive. Initially had 1 75a7b, but purchased 2 more 22a7b at 64 bucks.very good bang for performance, low seek time, high average transfer. runs cool (i have fans blowing on them) e |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:It is only 640GB.
Pros:One of the cheapest and best RAID drives. Comment:
I have a total of 6 of these drives, and it is hands down the best RAID drive for the price. I used to be a believer in the Seagate 7200.10's, and they are still good, but the 7200.11's are terrible. 3 Seagate 7200.11's underperform 2 WD SE16 640s in raid. Sad. I now have a 3 seagate array for file storage, and 2-WD SE16 640s for OS, and two more raids of the WD for file storage. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Comment:
I must have been unlucky enough to get a dud because my drive repeatedly loses partition information. I finally stripped info off and low level formatted everything again after using an info recovery program to get files back. Has done it repeatedly to all 3 partitions at random. NEVER lost partitions before. |

Pros:Relatively silentGood read/write speedsGreat GB/dollar ratio Comment:
Grabbed one of these a few weeks ago, price matched to around $80.Loving it so far, great performance all around, no complaints. I would recommend this for general builds which don't need the blistering speed of SSDs. |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:none
Pros:-Cheap, bought one for 79.99, another for 69.99, and this week it's even on sale for 64.99!-So far it's more quiet than my Seagate 7200.10 320GB Comment:
Until SSD prices drop more, these are still the best hd for the money, 10 cents/gb if you can get them on sale! |

Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300, OEM
Cons:- loud
Pros:- fast in raid- cool- WD RMA is best there is. Comment:
I'm not sure why people are saying these hard drives are quiet, they are not. I purchased two of them to run in a striped raid array, they are really fast but louder than other HD's. I can hear them chatter within my case, it isn't too loud but it is loud enough to be annoying.I wouldn't recommend these for a HTPC but then again who needs hard drives as fast as these for a media centre.. |

Bought this for an everything drive. Has my OS and games on it. Good speed and quiet enough that I can't hear it over anything else. Very good bang for your buck. Would purchase again.
