I bought this a week ago and then transferred almost 400 GB of data to it. The transfer was pretty quick considering the amount of data. The unit stays nice and cool too. The sleep function is pretty neat and should help save some power. |

I was looking for an external HD with 2TB for my Multimedia Box (Acer Revo with XBMC). The only thing I wasn't able to find on the different reviews is how silent was the drive. And from what I've heard so far, even when writing, it's silent enough for my taste. I like the LCD using the digital ink since it's easy to read and not too bright. Also, there a lot of ventilation, so I don't think it will overheat because of that.I will see with time, but I would probably buy another one when the time comes and there is the discount again. |

After going trough other external hard drives having to return or exchange others like the Seagate 1.5 TB 3 times. I am finally happy with this one. Backed up more than 350 TB in less 3 HRS. Very quiet and stays cool! |

Nice build, but......

I seriously am considering boxing-up this beast and returning it. In a nutshell: SLOW as molasses in January, the software GUI is buggy, and there is no real help document provided. It took 8 hours to backup 20 GB (around 50,000 files) on a fast machine, and the backup software was the only desktop item running. True, it uses a USB 2.0 interface, but I could copy and paste the same 20GB to a flashdrive in around 15 minutes. My other hard drive has 350 GB of photos to backup. What am I gonna do---go away for a month while it does the backup? Positives: attractive enclosure, easy installation. |
As expected this external drive performed exacly as expected, the only problem is that it has a hard time loading on my old laptop, due to to included software. on the other computer it has no problem.
