It spun up, appears to be much quicker than the old drive. Quieter as well. The shipping was top rated notch, as usual. Required it in a hurry and it was here. None concerning the drive itself, despite the fact that I believed the price tag was higher versus size. Add the cost of shipping and it was a ํ investment for only 80GB of space. For ŭ significantly more I could have gotten the 120GB drive, despite the fact that the drive size is moot for this distinct client. Installed this in an iBook G4. What a chore. Pretty substantially had to tear the whole laptop apart. Ran the O/S CD to partition and format. Operating just fine now. My client is exceptionally pleased with the results.Newegg cut the cost by บ, a week right after I ordered it. |

I ordered this based on reviewing the item on Newegg and a single reviewer highly reccomended this solution for a laptop replacement. My old drive in my Acer 1520 decided to go south and I replaced that with the WD800BEVE and couldn't be happier. I also oredered more RAM and Windows 7 for the same machine and figured it would be worth the try to update and see if I could get a couple of far more years out of it. It took less than an hour to install the RAM, difficult drive and Windows 7 with no issues at all. Non other than shipping with UPS. It took five small business days to reach me when it must have only taken three. I wish they would supply FedEx Ground as an option. My old Acer had an AMD 64 Athlon in it so I ordered the Windows 7 64 bit verion. With the new RAM and tricky drive it brought my laptop back to life and it's running far better than ever. The drive is quiet, runs cool and my BIOS immediately recognized it when it was installed. I extremely reccomend this unit. |

I bought this to replace a stock ten Gig drive in an old Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop. The laptop boots considerably faster now and programs are snappy compared to the sluggishness of the old challenging drive. General, this was a incredibly very good upgrade and breathed new life into an ancient machine. The cost-free Acronis True Image WD Edition boot CD I produced did not see this drive as a WD drive when it was installed in the laptop even even though it was recognized by the BIOS. I had to use my external USB enclosure with a WD SATA drive installed to get the Acronis computer software to let me backup the original drive. I backed it up via FTP mainly because the USB on this old laptop is the 1.1 version and it was going to take two hours to back up the old 10 Gig drive by way of USB. I employed FileZilla server (free) as the FTP destination and designed the image in much less than 30 minutes. I didn't assume I would want the USB drive anymore as soon as the image had been created and the new WD drive was installed in the laptop, but I was incorrect. I had to plug the USB cable back into the laptop to get beyond the screen where Acronis was searching for a WD drive even with the new WD drive installed. Then, with no executing something to the laptop, I was capable to restore the image to the new tough drive via FTP, so I know it was there. If you plan on making use of the Acronis Correct Image WD edition software program, make certain you have a WD drive installed someplace as you cannot even install the application unless there's a "recognized" WD drive on or in the method. Also, the price tag is a bit higher on these drives thinking about their size, but at least they are nonetheless producing this technologies. General, the drive gets five eggs because it is a wonderful drive and performs very nicely. The other stuff has to do with Acronis' software and how they broke it so WD could give it away with their drives. |

Replaced my brother's original 4200 rpm drive with this. Appears faster now. Tiny drive....he only uses it to tune his care with. Was about to go with a SSD, but got two gigs of memory and this for the identical price tag as a 32gb SSD. Figured I would stick to tried and true tech for my bro because he don't have a clue. |

Good cost, effortless to set up, bigger space for files, fit my older Dell Inspirion 1150, fantastic service, fast shipping No installation instructions...but that was either Dell's fault or my fault for not knowing enough about installing a new tricky-drive... I had never ever installed a hard-drive just before and the very first time I installed it in the machine, it wasn't recognized. Dell doesn't give you incredibly clear instructions on how to set up a new hard-drive because they assume you will obtain it from them. I took the new drive back out of the machine and looked at both the new and the old one. That's when I realized that the old drive had an adapter form plug on the end that plugs into the computer. I gently pulled on the adapter and it came off! I installed the adapter on the new tough-drive and it worked like a charm. I knew the new drive had to be the right one particular due to the fact I was referred to it by a Tech from Seagate (the old hard-drive's manufacturer). It functions wonderful and now I have twice as substantially disk space. Thanks, Newegg! |
Good tiny drive. When proper in and revived an old Dell Latitude D810.Hope it final a while. Not much. No docs. Shipped pretty quick. I believe I got it within a day or two and I Should certainlyhave for the higher price of shipping such a small factor only about 50 or so miles from Egg to me. Shipping costs now days is just obscene.Other that that, ok
