Quick Install, low-cost replacement for OEM drive's, compatible with older laptops, excellent performance for PATA. Third replacement underway. Wish it didn't fail as many times as it did, usage was fairly mild hardly ever moved the laptop and never bumped or dropped it. Drive just decided to fail once much more. Hope that the replacement now going directly via WD support will work and stay working for a even though. |

Worked fine, reasonable price. Runs hot in my old Dell D600. Replacement HDD for an old Dell D600. Drive fits fine, works fantastic, but the hand rest area over the drive gets pretty much uncomfortably warm. |

This drive replaced a Toshiba MK4025GAS 4200 RPM HDD in a Compaq Presario M2005US. The WD Scorpio Blue runs quicker than the Toshiba and Windows XP boots fast. None Have used Western Digital and will continue to use them. I have had no complications with any of my WD drives at all in any computer system that I have owned or repaired. |

Works as intended. Bought as replacement for a failed hdd in organization laptop out of warranty. Popped in, recognized, reimage, done and performs superior than the one Gateway installed. $$$$ hence the 4 eggsPrice per GB is nonetheless to high for two.five in drives. This drive 2.five in @ Ũ.63 per GB and 5400 rpm.WD Velociraptor is a two.five in drive at .50 per GB for the 300 GB and 10K rpm at that.TBH if a 10k rpm 2.5 in drive is much less per GB then why does the very same company charge more just for a laptop particular hdd. FYI for those that are not aware, the WD Velociraptors are 2.five in drives in a NON-REMOVABLE 3.five in "ice pack"So dont try to buy 1 to use in your laptop, even if your laptop bios would see the drive. |

-Fast-Inexpensive-Rapidly shipping-Quiet -Initially drive received was defective. Bought as replacement for a HP Pavilion dv5000 OEM drive that had gone bad. I RMA'd the first defective drive and received the replacement about two days soon after I had sent it. The replacement works like a charm. Let's hope it stays that way. Great RMA service, that's why I like shopping here. |

none for this instance was not recognized in old toshiba notebook even right after replacing the mobo, I suspect not the fault of WD due to the fact to old tough drive was ATA-five and I was gambling that an ATA-6 drive would work. |

Ordered this drive in mid February and has been a really respectable performer all around for the older PATA interface. I bought this drive to replace a dying drive in my Inspiron 5160. Its fairly quiet, decent on energy usage, and decently quickly for a mainstream PATA drive. I wish I could say far more positives but sadly it stops there. A few days ago this drive began making a high pitch whine and I believed surely it couldn't be the harddrive, its only a a couple months old. But sure enough, it is. The platter seems to be vibrating from the rotation generating a harmonic noise that sounds like a high pitch whine. If I tap the laptop firmly, it goes away momentarily. When the whine reaches its loudest point (think cpu fan on 100%) the computer stops responding when I try to open or interact with a program. As soon as I tap it, it quietens down and responds abruptly. Nevertheless right after a minute or two, the process begins all over. I completed the RMA request yesterday and will be sending this drive back to WD in the subsequent couple of days. I'm frustrated mainly because I've purchased Numerous WD drives and have had wonderful success therefore far. I'm leaving out of town for the weekend and I was expecting to use the laptop even though on my trip. That naturally won't happen now. I'm becoming generous and leaving 3 eggs as the drive itself is excellent minus failing soon after a couple months. Hopefully my encounter is an isolated event. |

Quick for the technology and sort of drive. Reliable. Somewhat quiet. None Becoming a PC Tech for numerous years now, I can safely say Western Digital makes the greatest, most dependable drives. I have in no way had an concern with a WD, but have had troubles with Seagate, Hitachi, Toshiba, IBM HDD's. |

Fits into 5 yr old Dell notebook just like OEM drive. Faster, quieter, additional storage. Fantastic price. Also worked nicely in external two.5" IDE case for init, format, clone partitions None however. Regret not buying the 120GB model. It is a plain drive in an anti-static bag. No box or directions. (Who requirements 'em?) Fed Ex was slow, but we had record snow storms. At least the box wasn't under all the snow. |

- Superior price- Excellent manufacturer warranty of about 2 to three years which fares properly in my experiences RMA-ing with WD. - Occasional RMA but sooner or later you'll have to RMA. My initial choice for inexpensive dead difficult drive replacement for laptops of several configurations, from OEMs, PC's and MAC's with great final results. RMA is fairly easy and not a lot of a hassle with WD here in CA and of course they also give discounted shipping @ around much less than five bucks which is a heck of a lot better than even NewEgg @ 7 most of the time. Then once more thats just when your NewEgg Return has expired. Other than that excellent replacement drive. |

An additional very good drive from WD. Purchased this for a clients laptop to replace the old 4200RPM drive that was in there, WOW, what a distinction it produced. That along with two GB RAM I added, created the client's old Compaq Presario notebook run like a a bat out of Hades! An talk about quiet, it is. A small pricey for an ATA 80GB drive. Throw 1 of these in your laptop if you have the old 4200-4500 RPM drive, you will see a large difference! |

Usually WD laptop drives are superior This 1 was DOA, died in Intelligent testing out of the box. As a laptop or computer repairman hundreds of drives go via my hands. I surface test each 1 for just this reason as I can't afford a bad drive getting placed with a client. Sigh, it will cost me an additional 9$ to send it back to Newegg. |

Had a failing drive on a VIAO. Put the new drive in a external USB case. Utilised Ultimate Boot CD to image the drive. I failed halfway simply because the old drive was truly bad, but it did get the hidden partition with the Windows restore. Swapped drives, used the restore partition to get it back to factory and Bob's your uncle. None |

Last month I bought the exact same product with a different SKU. Now this is the *all new* Scorpio Blue. (sarchastic: OOH! AAH!). It works the same as the old one. Which is good. I liked the one I bought last month and wanted another. I just have to laugh at the ID change (for no apparent reason). |
see OT see OT Just before anybody comments to my final assessment. This is a PATA vs the SATA Velociraptor.I know this but doesnt alter the comment Cost per GB is nevertheless too high.
