Western Digital Velociraptor WD1000DHTZ 1TB SATA3 10000RPM 64MB 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:Not useful for primary boot drives
Pros:Best consumer grade and entry-level enterprise 3.5" hard drive Comment:
This is a fantastic storage and performance grade hard drive that I've owned for some time. I first had the original Velicoraptor 300Gb (before the SATA revision layout change)and I've picked up several of these drives to use for performance hard-drives. I would recommend them for storage and for crunching data as a secondary drive in addition to a SSD. Real-world difference between a Velociraptor and a Sata III SSD is huge so there is no point in choosing a Velociraptor for primary boot drive. After format you will have about 931.5Gb. I also recommend formatting it as 4096 on the allocation since it supports advanced formatting. |

Western Digital Velociraptor WD1000DHTZ 1TB SATA3 10000RPM 64MB 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:noisy
Pros:reliable, fast Comment:
Western Digital delivers reliable storage, as always, but my Velociraptor makes a crunchy sound and occasionally a chirping sound. from what i've read this is pretty common with these, and some people actually like the sound. Works great though. |

Western Digital Velociraptor WD1000DHTZ 1TB SATA3 10000RPM 64MB 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:lil noisy when operating
Pros:Fast reliable Comment:
It is for my storage and my softwares i didnt want my storage drive to slow down my computer so i took the best one. |
If your looking for lots of storage, Enterprise Quality(5 year warranty), solid performance -all at a much better cost than expensive SSD's, I would go with this drive. Cost per G/B the 1TB velociraptor wins hands down over SSD. HD is also very very quiet-makes virtually no noise, though other reviews claim it chirps and spins audibly-mine is virtually silent. -----------------------------------------------------------------------CrystalDiskMark 3.0.2 x64 (C) 2007-2013 hiyohiyo Crystal Dew World : http://crystalmark.info/-----------------------------------------------------------------------* MB/s = 1,000,000 byte/s [SATA/300 = 300,000,000 byte/s] Sequential Read : 172.890 MB/s Sequential Write : 169.453 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 61.106 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 103.300 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 0.742 MB/s [ 181.1 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 2.225 MB/s [ 543.3 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 1.842 MB/s [ 449.8 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 2.182 MB/s [ 532.7 IOPS] Test : 1000 MB [C: 62.8% (585.0/931.4 GB)] (x5) Date : 2014/02/18 1:57:48 OS : Windows 7 Professional SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x64)Additional System Info:Mode:Sata2 (no raid)Haven't been able to test this drives performance in Sata3 as my MB doesnt support it.
