Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:looks the same as the 1g

Pros:mobile, sleek, compact
Comment:
My first WD seemed to stop working if by magic, but a really good sale made me try them again. So far my 1g version of this drive has not had any problems, and the the 2g is working even faster now with usb 3.0. So far, so good

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:Can only remove Security by reformatting the drive

Pros:Sleek designUSB 3.0Can still work with a 2.0 cable
Comment:
Overall, I am happy with this WD product. The read/write speeds are consistent, as opposed to this old external I have. I can see myself buying all my hard drive accessories with WD from now on, save for those SSDs that may or may not be from other manufacturers.Though I downloaded all the software that came with the drive, I've only really used WD Security and WD Drive Utilities. With the backups, I kept it with how Windows usually does them. It's a shame that WD doesn't made the Nomad for the 2TB size. Would have liked to use one such that I wouldn't have to worry about breaking anything as much.

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:-proprietary HDD end cable-HDD cannot be removed

Pros:-nice looking design-good speeds over usb3-feels solid
Comment:
Got this because a friend had one for a while. RW is ~100MB/s and ~80MB/s. Good deal for the current price considering the cost of a 2.5" 2TB drive as of now.

I got 2 of these drives on sale with free shipping for $114.99 They are the best price for 2TB mobile drives you cannot go wrong with these drives. Good warranty on them. The drives do about 80MB's Right and Read speed is much faster around 120MB's. I will be buying more of them soon as i run out of space.

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:usb is integrated into pcb of harddrive

Pros:lots of storage space, 2.5" form factor
Comment:
wd is the only company with a 2tb 2.5" external at this moment. works as it should, a bit expensive when its not onsale. drive is highly convenient for its form factor and capacity.

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:Well, you gotta pay for it and like any hard drive, it may suddenly die when you don't expect it. No hard drive is 100% reliable in the long-term.

Pros:-Extremely silent-Stays super cool-Very light-weight-Ultra slim-Really small-USB 3.0
Comment:
I bought two of these!Have been perfectly reliable up to now. They're nice looking (elegant and sexy). When idle, they automatically go in a stand-by mode making the drives completely stop spinning to ensure heat reduction, improve life-expectancy (longevity) and reduce noise. That system has been efficient and hasn't given me any headaches / annoyances or lack of performance. For 2TB, the price was good and performance-wise, it is almost as fast as most internal 7200 RPM drives.

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:Thicker than my older My Passport.

Pros:Solid build. Fast. Large capacity. Decent looking.
Comment:
A good sizable external 2.5 drive. Feels solid in the hand (though it isn't really heavy), even if that does mean it's a bit thicker than what I had expected.Still, it's fast and comes from a reputable brand. Would recommend.

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:Short cable.

Pros:Small, quiet, fast, single-cable bus-powered
Comment:
I suppose I don't have anything new to add—just further endorsement. It's small, fast, and quiet. I use it on a mac, sometimes plugged in directly, but more commonly plugged into an Airport Extreme wireless router, (on a non-powered hub). It comes with software, which you can use to adjust the sleep period—(though Airport Extreme's override this, I believe). The cable is stupid-short—which admittedly is useful in some situations—but a 3 metre USB 3.0 extension is only $5 (including shipping) from eBay, or $6.50 for a full 3 metre micro USB 3.0 cable.

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:proprietary usb cable, not much you can do with USB 3.0, the extra pins with the connector are necessary.

Pros:USB 3.0, very fast, 2TB, (also can use USB 2.0 ports) what else do you need?
Comment:
I am using this drive for my Wii backups, so far I've collected a large number of games, and the drive responds to the Wii access without fail every time. When transferring from my desktop over USB 3.0, the speeds are amazing. I will buy again!

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:None

Pros:Great capacitySmallUsb 3.0
Comment:
At 2tb, it has the highest capacity among portable drives. It's surprisingly small too, smaller than the 1.5tb Seagate portable drive I have. The usb 3.0 is fast too. Once u've used usb 3.0, you'll never want to go back to usb 2.0.

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:Unique connection, can't use it for desktop/laptop computer

Pros:Good storage capacity for a portable hard driveNo external power neededUse one usb connection
Comment:
Good storage capacity for this size of hard drive. Use one usb connection to power the drive without the use of external power adapter. Unfortunately, the drive inside has custom connection and not compatible with laptop/desktop computer. Transfer speed is surprisingly not bad. A 3.47GB takes about 30s.

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:- Stupidly short USB cable (1.5ft)- Bit thicker than your average 2.5" external drive

Pros:- Huge 2TB capacity- Small, easy to carry- Host Powered- Fast when used with USB3.0 (Get 118-119MB/s R/W in CDM)- Fan of the look
Comment:
Great little drive, easy to carry. Host powered is a huge plus (no need for bulky external adapters). Simple format is all that is required to get rid of the bloatware/software.Loses 1 star for the short USB cable -- Barely reaches from the top of my case to the USB ports on my system. Longer cable is going to cost 12$+

Western Digital WD My Passport Essential SE 2TB USB ULTRA-PORTABLE USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Drive Black
Cons:warm, short USB cable.

Pros:portable, large amount, silent
Comment:
Not that many choices to choose from if you want a large 2TB portable HD. price is reasonable for this size. the HD is quite easy to use, just like all other ones. Plug it in and that's it. It runs very quiet but feel warmer in touch compare to other. The physical size is a bit thicker. Come with a short USB cable.
