Western Digital WD TV Play Media Player WiFi 1080p AVI HDMI Ethernet
Cons:Only the WD Play has 1 little problem. This machine will not play DTS sound through the HDMI.You need to connect an optical cable to your sound system.
Pros:Best Media Players ,will play all subtitles from all my chinese MKV HD files. Comment:
I have bought 3 WD media players in the last 3 yrs ,they all perform exceptionally well with all movies files, especially MKV Hd files.Never had any issues.I have 1 WD Live Hub.1 WD Live TV and a WD play. |

Western Digital WD TV Play Media Player WiFi 1080p AVI HDMI Ethernet
Cons:Not much apps. Need a DLNA server or NAS capable of DLNA to stream files.
Pros:Look nice. Good Netflix player. Comment:
I bought it to play files over network but it dosn't play a lot of MKV files. You need a DLNA server or NAS capable to stream files from network. No NHL center ICE apps and no PLEX apps. Weak selection of apps. So i only use it to stream Netflix.I should bought the WD Live Plus insted. My fault i guess. |

Western Digital WD TV Play Media Player WiFi 1080p AVI HDMI Ethernet
Cons:won't play mkv files, bad interface, difficult to access shared folders
Pros:sadly there are no pros to suggest Comment:
I regularly use a OPlay! to stream video and have been fairly pleased with it, thought I would try a media player with some built in web features. Sadly this is not a media player that I find of ANY use. The OPlay! will access shared folder from a windows system, the WD won't. The OPlay! plays all my media, the WD won't play any of my hundreds of MKV Hidef videos (despite claims to the otherwise). The OPlay! interface is relatively straight forward, it took me 20 minutes to figure out how to access shared files with the WD unit. I have unplugged this unit and will likely never plug it in again! |
Very easy to configure. Ready in 5 minutes. Connect to Router with Media server enable. USB storage is working easily.I recommand this product.I will buy 2 nothers when the price down again.
