Western Digital WD10EADS Caviar Green 1TB SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:Shouldn't be used in Raid
Pros:Very Power efficientQuiet Comment:
This is a great drive for htpc or storage. Cheap cost/GB. I wouldn't recommend using this drive for the OS, as its not the quickest of drives. I would not use the drive in a raid config, as it tends to spin up and down on its own to conserve power, this may confuse some raid controllers. |

Western Digital WD10EADS Caviar Green 1TB SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:None I can think of
Pros:Large space, quiet enough for me, relatively cheap Comment:
I got this as an addition to the DNS-323 I bought which already had a 500 gb drive. But after hearing terrible defects with Seagate drives, I added this baby to back up my stuff before my Seagate dies. It's also being used as a repository... web server and some dns server. |

Western Digital WD10EADS Caviar Green 1TB SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:A little slow, slow spinup
Pros:Fairly Quiet, Price, 1TB Comment:
They are not the fastest drives in the world, but thats perfectly fine for my application. I am using them in a NAS and for that they are perfect. Keeps the machine quiet, most of the noise I hear from the machine is the fans, the HD noise while read/writing is negligeable. I did not need the speed for my NAS since it really would not take full advantage of it, instead I wanted it to be quiet, and use as little power as possible. These drives are perfect for that.I bought them when they were on sale for 85$, making them well worth the money.Only issue I have, and its very slight, is that when the drives go to sleep it takes 3-4seconds for them to spin up when accessed. |

Western Digital WD10EADS Caviar Green 1TB SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:- intellipark issues
Pros:- price- quiet seeks Comment:
Received 2x WD10EADS-00M2B0 for Synology 210j NAS in RAID1. The firmware on the drives are set to park head 8secs of idle (intellipark). This caused problems with my NAS unable to hibernate. In fact it I could hear it park every 8secs. I used wdidle3 utility from WD to disable intellipark altogether now it is working great. My load/unload cycle count has dropped dramatically according to S.M.A.R.T. OVerall, these are still good drives once setup properly. |

Cons:-speed-performance
Pros:-quiet-cheap-low power Comment:
This hard drive went in my Home Theatre PC , and so far it's been a great addition. I just needed massive storage for recording High Definition Video. I also wanted something that was going to be quiet, as currently you cannot hear the computer at all. This drive will "save" power but the hard drive is not normally the power hog in a system. |

Cons:Takes about 30 seconds to power up
Pros:Perfect drive for an external hard drive. Runs pretty cool. Comment:
Bought two of these: one for myself, and one for a floormate in my dorm. We both wanted a Portable drive for backups, and storage of music and videos, since we both brought laptops with us, only. I've put these hard drives into an Antex Veris MX-100. They run cool. |

Cons:- Could be a bit faster
Pros:- Price is affortable- Quiet Comment:
Bought this for storage so the price was good and it is quiet. Could have been a bit faster but since I use it only for storage its more than effective. Would go with a WD Black edition if I were to use it for an OS drive. |

Western Digital WD10EADS Caviar Green 1TB SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:Slow for regular PC use
Pros:Quiet, Cheap, Low Power Comment:
These are perfect for an NAS or an HTPC. I'm using two of these in a DNS-323 and they work great. Not so great for using in a regular PC as they take a few seconds to spin up and it can stall your system while they power up, but most people won't buy these for that use. |

Cons:Could be a little faster.
Pros:Awesome hard drive for the price, excellent WD reliability. Comment:
This drive isn't the fastest 1TB out there, that award goes to the Samsung HD103UJ. This drive is absolutely silent and perfect for HTPC use. WD reliability is a huge plus. |

Western Digital WD10EADS Caviar Green 1TB SATA 32MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM
Cons:Not fast
Pros:Quiet, lots of space Comment:
Replacing a pair of seagate 320GB HDDs with this has considerably lowered the noise level in my HTPC. Previously the hard drives were the loudest component in the system, but this drive I cannot hear over the fans. I've had no issue playing HD media files from the drive. I've had no issues whatsoever. It's quiet and has a decent amount of space, I'm very satisfied. |

Cons:None
Pros:Fast and quiet. Not quite as fast as the Caviar black but for my purpose (Windows Backup) it is not noticeable. Comment:
I switched to WD after a few Seagate 1TB drives went belly up. Either I've been lucky or WD makes some good drives. I haven't had a problem with them yet. |

Cons:none
Pros:great drive quiet, works Comment:
I hear no clicking or anything, not sure what that is about, but some people say it, I see no slow downs either, it just seems like a great drive that works, sure not the faster drive ever made, but I don't care, I am using it for storage and playing movies, it is SILENT (well in an Antec 900, with all fans and then some more going), I dunno works, what more do u want, I thought about getting a Seagate, but some many reviews of them failing, and their stupidity with the firmware issue, why would anyone trust them again? buy WD, and buy a Green if its for storage (Black for OS...or really SSD for OS) |

I bought this disk to be used with my PVR and as soon as I'm watching an HD program and recorder another HD one, more than 2 glitches per minute appear. Really annoying. |

Originally bought 2 of these drives, and just bought a third drive to have a proper Raid 5 setup. Never had a problem with any of my WD drives. Very reliable, but good to know my data is better protected with Raid 5 configuration. |

Fast, cool and quiet one-platter design hard drive. Great price when on sale. Got it for a friend who needed, he's very happy with it. |
I just wanted large drive for storage. this drive fit the bill, I'm very happy with product, It's worked flawlessly so far and I like that it has power miser feature, don't care if it takes a moment to spin up, as its primarily used as back-up. My black carvers faster and thats what I work from any-way. Would buy again.
