Great addition to my network

The NAS worked out of the box; plugged it into the router and it was done! All the PCs see the drive, and the backup software seems to work well. I have not yet tried a restore, however. There are a few quirks - the IP address has changed a couple of times. Map to the server name and not an IP address! On both XP and Vista, the discovery software takes a long time to see the drive, even after making sure my firewall settings are correct. Not sure why, as the drive is readily visible to the OS. A bit pricey, but performance has been better than I expected and having common storage for multiple PCs has been terrific! |
The only downside to this little unit is the speed. other than that, it's a great little unit.. easy to setup, lots of features. Being based on a linux system, it's easy to find external sites on how to hack the WB and add new features. worked with Xbox right away, and now I have access to my full music and movie without having to depend on a slow MS media server.
