Cons:wireless driver for linux needs to be downloaded from the chipset manufacturer (not zotac) and compiled by hand to get it working with ubuntu 9.04
Pros:small, low power consumption, supports up to 4 hard drives, integrated nvidia card works with cuda on linux. |

I bought this for a small linux server and after having weird problems for months I contacted Zotac and they say they DON'T support Linux at ALL. Much of the hardware has problems in linux. Because of the small case, The temperature that comes out at the back is hot. It can warm up my den. But for the price to performance it is ok. It was a bit dificult installing the cpu cooler. But overal it is ok. |

Cons:Finicky, the USB ports are useless for connecting drives, the OCZ Vertex doesn't work with it at all

This device is a mixed bag. On one hand what they have packed in a very small form factor is very impressive: video, support for any AMD 95W or lower processor (a bios update lets it support Phenom II), GBLan, Wi-Fi, all in an area about the size of a granola bar box.On the other the device exhibits incredibly frustrating limitations that are all in software: as soon as you plug any storage device (thumbdrive) in the USB port it freezes. I haven't tried it with other devices. Others online are banging heads against that wall too. Try as we might (2 really experienced guys working together for 5 hours, which made this thing very expensive in the end if you count the value of your time), the SSD we had (a 60GB OCZ Vertex) just wouldn't work properly, even with the latest firmware and BIOS updates. So no silent HTPC here. We resorted to using a surplus laptop drive.The accessories from Zotac are terrible. The Pico-PSU that delivers a different wattage than the one it displays (the 125W offers 105W, which is barely enough to run the board in a stable fashion on a 95W processor), the M-Box 350 case that doesn't fit the device at all (the stock cooler pops up above the top, and the Scythe Shuriken doesn't like the proximity of the memory slots).In the end we decided to forgo the purchased Zotac accessories and install everything in an SG05 case that already comes with a reasonably silent 300W PSU. I got one of these as I needed more power than what the atoms provide and to run some cuda jobs. so far I've used it to build a really small form factor pc to be used as a linux NAS/Backup/Media DLNA server/intra web server/git/wiki server/ and to use the integrated graphics chip as a cuda renderer, and it has been running flawlessly for over 6 months 24/7 with ubuntu 9.04, 2 1TB hitachi drives (lvm not raid), 4gb ram, amd64x2.The only issue I had besides having to find a very low profile cpu cooler/fan to fit the small case I put it in, was that I had to download and compile the wireless drivers kernel module as they are not in the mainline kernel yet. Other than that It has been working so great that I'm thinking of buying a couple more of these boards to build a cheap, small and very low power render farm.
