acomdata SMBXXXU2SE-BLK Obsidian Black External Enclosure
Cons:
Problems with heat dissipation
Pros: Decent looking unit Comment:
The build quality is average (the outer casing is of nice quality, but the rest is just cheap plastic as expected for a device of low price range). The problem is that with a 1.5TB Seagate in there, the drive gets too hot when operating (55C). With the cover off, only 42C. Be careful of putting in newer high capacity drives in there.Let's hope the Rebate eventually comes in. |

Cons:
None, really.
Pros: Fantastic enclosure - easy to set up and install, and comes with a bunch of extra screws. eSATA and USB 2.0 is a plus. Good price with a $10 MIR!The blue LED indicator light is nice and bright and clear that it is working! Comment:
This is a great plug and play enclosure that supports both USB 2.0 and eSATA. I like how despite the fact that the enclosure uses 4 small philips screws to keep the back cover on, when you take it out of the package they only install 2 screws, so it means less work to set it up.The extra screws come in a plastic bag, and I'd recommend using 4 screws to secure the enclosure when you put the hard drive you want in it. |
HDDs tend to get warm without a fan. I am using a WD green and it works just fine in this enclosure. Esata works perfectly and this is a great setup for backing up data. I have my internal RAID1 array backup to this drive every few weeks and while 2TB of data takes a while to transfer, it is well worth the hassle.
