Overall, a very good printer for printing out notes and generally anything black and white. Costs of upkeeping however, is quite high but that goes for any laser printer.

Easy set up and multiple connection option - LAN, WLAN or USB supported. Worked no problem with apple and PC. Super BandW print quality. Manual duplex only. Toner cartridge is one of those under-filled starter jobs with a warning sticker saying not to try to refill yourself lest you void the warranty.

Simple to set up and configure. Printer can go just about anywhere in the house where you have space. On my home network, any of my pc's or notebooks can print on it. No wires and cables. Like the men's razor business (giving the razors away and selling the blades), this is the case in the printer business. The consumables is where these companies make their money. In Tone Saver mode, I stretched usage on my 250 page small toner cartridge that comes with the printer. At $60 from, the high output TN-360 (2600 pages) is $30 cheaper than a major office supplies chain, but you will have to buy it online as not all stores stock it. Most will only have the TN-330 (1500 pages). When the drum is ready to be replaced, just buy a new printer, the next generation of the 2170W. The drum is almost as expensive as the entire printer which comes the small toner cartridge. When these guys put it on sale, my second printer will be a the colour wireless version of this one.

I bought this printer because I wanted one that was network capable. Having to have my desktop on to allow printing was a nuisance. This printer came up on sale and I knew the reputation of Brother printers so I took a chance on it.So far I'm very pleased. It is quite easy to set up with Windows (both XP and Vista; I've not tried 7). It is even easier to set it up with Linux (I use Ubuntu) and OS X. It has a web portal (I had my router give my printer the same IP address so accessing this feature is a lot easier) and I was able to tweak the configuration as I wished. It also gives you status, e.g. if it's jammed, capacity of the toner cartridge and fuser, etc. You can even configure it to send you emails if there are problems.The output isn't as high quality as some printers I've owned but it's very good. For the price I think the printer offers terrific value.

I love this printer. For the price I don't know any other printers that have network connectivity, not to mention wireless. Wireless connection offers lots of flexibility. I no longer have to put the printer next to my computers. I can put it where it fits, say the corner of the office. Works very well. You should follow the manual to set it up though. It works for my mac running OS X 10.5 Leopard and another two Windows XP PCs.

this printer is perfect for any student, high school or college, that needs to print notes and assignments. It prints them very clearly and fast (important if you are printing a lot of notes). I would highly recomend this printer to anyone who does not have the need for color.

This turned out to be an awesome printer. I got it because I find myself wanting to print documents from time to time and didn't want to wait to get to work to print them.Love the fact that I don't need to keep this printer anywhere near my computer. It keeps my desk nice and clutter free. So far no complaints about print quality as i've only printed out simple pages such as google maps.Once plugged into the network it was very easy to setup and works just great with the macbook and my windows machine.

All I needed was a monochrome, ethernet capable printer for text documents. Most ethernet-capable printers cost a lot more than I was willing to pay for, so this was an amazing deal. The printer isn't for everybody, obviously, and apparently the wireless is kind of tricky to set up properly (its kind of redundant for me as I am satisfied with letting it sit plugged in to the switch). It does the job simply, efficiently, and without any problems. A+.

Print quality is quite good and images are much sharper than my inkjet printer (Brother MFC-420CN). I bought it for the wireless ability and that is what DOES work.
