Cons:-Heavy as a mofo - of the four people I know who bought this printer, all of us use it on the ground. Still, we knew that going in, and duplexing printers are always heavy.-Confusing to check toner levels in software - I usually just cave and waste paper and print out a diagnostics page.
Pros:-Great print quality, in black and white or colour.-Networking capability is fantastic and works great!-Duplexing is a godsend. I use it often! |

Considering it has some decent capacity toner cartriges and duplexing capability I felt it more than made up for the large physical size of the printer. Size and lack of wireless capability may scare away some people who have their router in plain sight but I don't so I didn't care. What I enjoyed about this purchase was that it was easy to setup, the LCD menu is simple, and the ability to insert a flash drive and print off pictures and PDF files is fantastic. My only regret about this purchase was not filling out a review for it until 6 months after I bought it from NCIX.EDIT: I have owned a few Samsung lazer printers that tripped my UPS whenever they received a print job. This occurred regardless of being on seperate circuits in my home. Very annoying but I'm happy to report that this Brother printer has not had the same effect. Cons:It is 65 lbs and the instructions even advised that you have two people lift it out of the box. I did not listen and my back got killed. The printer is large so plan in advance where you will be putting it. I printed a color photograph and the output was not better than my inkjet.
Pros:Bought this thing for $189.98 + $51.79 shipping. An excellent value for that price. The black and white output looks decent and the color is sufficient to make a positive impression. By the way, this printer works with Windows XP, Windows 7, and Linux (Fedora for sure). Comment:
This is a low cost printer that has color. For a small office it is a great value. The toner and other consumables are low cost. Setting up the printer in Windows XP and Windows 7 was easy. The only thing I do not like is the complication of repacking this thing if you plan on transporting it somewhere. Pros:Easy to set up and quick printing. Colour printing is acceptable and b&w is excellent. Duplexing is one of the strengths of this printer and it works without any problems. Comment:
For just over $200 this was in my mind a bargain. This is a rugged and reliable workhorse of a printer. Great for a home office. I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but so far it has performed admirably. Highly recommended. |

So my 'weaknesses' aren't really weaknesses given the type of printer I bought. Very happy so far. The set-up took a short while (taking out the packing materials, prepping the toners, and installing drivers), but nothing tedious. If anything, the CD-instructions were fun to watch.The performance and testing we did so far has been great. No tweaking was needed outside of the default settings. I'm wondering why the printer is so cheap (about $200) when the toners themselves add up to more than that (if you buy Brother brand from a reputable store). Prices everywhere else I looked for this printer are $400 or so. Great deal. |

This is an excellent printer with very good network driver support by the vendor. I had some issues with XP / Vista 64 bit in the past with predecessors products. But Brother offers a wide range of OS support directly from their WEB page, including the most recent MS server OSes & MAC (not that I own one). |

I bought it for $250 and I thought that was a steal, so at $200 to $210 that its at now you don't even have to think about it. No regrets here. Very good printer. Don't get it if you print photos... this is a laser, not a photo printer. But for things like line graphics, letterhead, etc its perfect. I have no issues with the print quality at all. It is a bit loud but not ear shattering. It stunk for a few print jobs but that went away quickly. I've had some issue printing via the network but only from our Windows 7 machine (after every reboot it loses the port) but no problems from Vista or XP machines.I'm giving 5 starts in consideration of its price. I'm sure there must be higher quality, faster, better units... but not for the price. |

Purchased this unit a couple of weeks ago, and I am very happy with the ease of setup and the quality of the print. Have tried some prints using Xerox Digital Color Supergloss and these were very acceptable. For the price, you cannot go wrong. The Brother Networking was easy to setup so it found a home on my home network. Kudos for the quick shipping. Thanks very much. |

I bought this one on sale at just over $200 CDN and it was a steal. Be sure to use points for shipping or you'll wear about $80 if you are in Atlantic Canada like me. The setup went really fast once I found a small stand that would take the weight (take someone with you to pick this puppy up at the Post Office!). The quality is great and I'm a very happy NCIX shopper!! |

Considering the fact that this printer was $200 when I got it, and now it's pushing three times that, this printer was an amazing bang for the buck. It works great, the toner capacity is huge, and print quality is consistently excellent.I haven't had to buy any replacement toners for it yet, and dread when I do, but for now I'm utterly satisfied. 1400+ prints on the printer, and the toner cartridges are still something like 80% full.
