Rapidly laser printer with great outcomes.NetworkedBig capacity tray Setup can be complicated. I ended up mapping a network drive from my WHS to my desktop for "network" scanning. I under no circumstances figured out the entire FTP to my server. No biggie, we don't scan often and when we do it performs good! Was tired of acquiring ink following the cartridges would dry out. This is a significantly greater option. The scans look great, print outs look great, it's on my home network and accessible to all of my Computer's and my MBP! Not a undesirable obtain for ~跌 |

Solid Brother network printer. Missing the main feature of the 8460, "Scan-to-FTP". With no network scanning, Brother truely restricted the abilities of this machine. I can't understand why Brother would take away a feature that was there on the other models way less costly. |

Totally functional duplex network all-in-one particular unit. This is a true network device. There are as well a lot of "pros" to list, so I'll try to get to the meat of what several people today may be interested in understanding.I installed the computer software suite (control center three) on a virtual Pc to test how considerably it would influence a windows XP technique. To my surprise, its really light on the OS and has a quite snappy response.Once inside the application suite, you will be happy to discover a uncomplicated but powerful range of tools to operate your printer more than the network - "scan, custom scan, copy, pc-fax and device settings" - every single with effortlessly-to-fully grasp sub-menu icons. There are some standard setup menus as well. Moreover, there are installation options for drivers only, a basic admin panel and an admin light panel. Exquisite software program. The main console interface on the front of the unit is really intuitive, from initially contact to wading by the advanced features.Take your time with first get in touch with. Read the rapid st No cons to list genuinely, so I'll explain a couple of items to be conscious of when thinking about this printer. This isn't genuinely a con if you know what you're purchasing but be aware that this unit is somewhat significant. You must plan on allocating some space ahead of you obtain this factor.Could have come with a dust cover? I ordered a custom washable cloth cover from "Digital Deck Covers" - was well worth the added few dollars to maintain this unit from becoming a dust magnet. They didn't have this unique model on their list of printer covers at initially. I ended up filling out their request form, and to my surprise, they speedily added the MFC-8480dn to their sales list in a handful of short hours. There isn't adequate space on this review to explain all the good points I could say about this printer. I'm very impressed "Brother". :-) Newegg must have me on their VIP list! Ordered normal shipping and UPS knocked on my door day two following purchasing on the internet site. The unit itself is really nicely created. $ for $, I feel like the dollars paid for this unit was nicely spent. It's has the high quality, functionality and smoothness of a lot a lot more pricey units. This thing is in a class of its personal in my opinion.Completely loaded fax center. Accepts distinct ring - wow, that is good. Don't worry if you need to have to use a telephone on the similar line, this unit has pass by means of telephone answering when the fax is set to TAD mode. Has a built in fax transmission report.Several scan settings, from photos to OCR to e-mail. And did I mention the software program comes with PaperPort 11 for document scanning?Printing is fast and quiet. Print top quality appears extremely good so far but I'm nonetheless in the beginning stages of mastering its complete capability.I primarily purchased this unit to consolidate a scanner, fax and printer scattered around the house. And am I a pleased camper now? you betcha! It's a major of the line property/home workplace all-in-one particular machine. You get what you pay for. |

Have gone by a lot of all-in-ones over the years with steadily declining top quality. Final 1 broke after two years from 'the' printer corporation. So, believed I'd give Brother a try. This machine is great! Heavier parts, sturdier all about. Nicely documented. Totally featured for MAC users. DOES duplex print (doesn't duplex scan in the ADF) Perhaps a tad slower in very first page out than some others, but absolutely nothing significant. This a single feels like it may just last longer than the warranty! |

This machine does every little thing that our Xerox 4150 that we literally paid 10 x plus for. And we don't have to spend a tech 轍 an hour (without a service contract) to repair. Excellent machine .... lives up to all its reviews. So far flawless. Great job Brothers. None Would have been great if we could have added a three tray as in the other brothers machines ... but no fantastic disadvantage. |

I run a law workplace and just before buying read tons of evaluations, virtually all very good to good. Bought the 8860DN 5 years ago and which is generally the same machine from what I've seen at the OD shop, except toner/drum cartridges and addition of USB port on front. If mine lastly went down, I'd purchase this. It's a great machine and have had no important difficulties. Have ControlCenter2 (CC2) on my XP machine and CC3 for my Windows 7 laptop. Have PaperPort 9.0SE and this comes with 11SE, which are basically the exact same. PP operates fantastic and will allow me to do anything I require to file electronically, shuffle pages, reorder, stack, un-stack, convert to/from .pdf, etc. Rosewell toner and drum operates great on my machine and as noted beneath, are practically identical to this one particular. I save the old toner cartridges and each few months combine them into a single which increases expense savings. Postings indicate you can renew the drum unit if you have the inclination. Have seldom if ever had ADF jam difficulties. When working with the MP tray for envelopes it tends to make creases at one finish just about each and every time and based on the quantity or brand of envelope it sometimes jams. But not quite usually. Make sure to get the significant size toner. The toner cartridges appear to be the only factor they have changed as far as the specs and even then are almost identical (not sure if they aren't compatible). Hate it when someone just renames something or makes a minor change to pawn it off as something new, why alter a fantastic issue. Check out other postings to save on toner and drum cartridges, I've tried all the tricks, except cleaning the drum and they all seemed to function fantastic. Brother toner/drums are high-priced and I see no difference from Rosewill. If you examine periodically Newegg has sales and free shipping bargains, stock a couple for the cost of one particular Brother OEM. Initial factor I bought was added RAM. Advocate thinking about value of RAM when purchasing if more than a smaller workplace, collating eats a lot of memory depending on how numerous pages. Wish it could accept far more RAM, but on the good side it price me less to add due to the fact 512 add'l is the limit. Some individuals say it won't manage duplex scanning. Just reconfigure CC3 and click Duplex Scanning. Identical factor goes for scanning legal size docs. I utilized the custom scan tab and renamed buttons for what I wanted, ex color 150x150 or Duplex B/W Scan, and so forth. Then you don't have to reconfigure for every distinct task you scan. However, if you use the scan button on the machine you can inform it to scan typical or duplex right from the console. Bottom line is the machine and software have lots of selections and unless your're going to read or are tech savvy you may miss them. If working with lots of paper you may want to obtain the add'l paper tray, I believed about it but just haven't required it when considering expense. |

We use this for Almost everything! It's our main printer/fax/copier/scanner for a five person office. It won't scan in duplex. We do a lot of scanning for our document managment system. It recognizes and connects to the proper workstation and integrates nicely with all our programs. We've been making use of it for about 8 months without having any difficulties. |

Energy Saver, prints quickly and double-sided to save paper, effortless to use.Printing: five Eggs, Faxing: 5 Eggs, Copies: three Eggs, Scanning: three Eggs. Scanning in color is incredibly slow, can not scan double sided, the scanning computer software is not the greatest. Also you can copy to develop a double-side document but unable to scan a double sided document. The 1st machine we received did not scan properly (image was blurry and not clear). Our tech worked with Consumer Service and was able to get a replacement in which arrived the day immediately after. |

I have had most rands - most not too long ago was a Canon 5770. I got tired of the Win 7 incompatibility, and becoming unable to scan by way of TCP/IP.I had a single of the original MFC from Brother a lot of years ago, and it usually served me effectively - I should have stayed with them.So far, no jams to report, fax works fine, and the scanning computer software functions, even though I have not utilized OCR but.Overall this is a wonderful option. MFC machines are all over the spot, and the cost points go seriously low but you get what you pay for. This unit is in the sweet spot of price vs. efficiency, in my opinion. Do watch the pricing, though, as it ranges from 趤 all the way up to 踰+. Rebates are usually accessible, so preserve your eyes open. |

Network Scanning by way of FTP and Microsoft file sharing, loads of other characteristics None, I enjoy these machines. Initially I posted that there was no network scanning abilities. Soon after talking to Brother Help, and then being transferred to second tier assistance, and then the tech calling me back after undertaking his own analysis, it was discovered that the setup for the network functions had been moved beneath the "Administration" page. It even has some improvements more than the prior models, such as some file naming abilities. |

Final one lasted three years at 250 copys/prints a day (MFC-8460N). Sadly, this is a manual duplex machine (if that makes any sense), which is the similar as a simplex printer. In other words, it's NOT duplex capable. Tru duplex printers dont sell for 踰. Minus 1 egg for misleading specifics. The TN-550 and TN-580 toners operate on the MFC-8480dn even though it says they wont. |

Excellent all-in-1. Use superior (Hammermill) paper to avoid misfeeds. Faster than the previous model at scanning. I run a little organization with modest document specifications, and this machine does what I will need. I have had some difficulty setting it up on the network from one workstation. Have a operate-about, but it's a bit inconvenient to have it on the USB cord. I had the previous model. It had a superior run for 2 years, then failed in the ADF. |

This has genuinely worked out effectively. It replaces an aging HP scanner and an HL-1440 brother laser printer. I'm able to save a ton a desktop with just this single unit and it's options of scanning to USB & file shares is amazing. Printer is quickly and quiet and the fax and copier have worked flawlessly. The lack of complete linux drivers is a bit of a bummer but when I contacted customer support they mentioned to check back in 1-two months. More than MFCs from Brother have full linux support for all their functionality so I'm not worried, this MFC was just released this year so I'm fairly confident that the drivers/apps will be forthcoming. No complaints about the actual device! The printer can be completely managed through a web browser which is a incredibly nice feature too. Also I opted to max out it's memory so it now has the full 576MB. |

Does NOT scan to email
Comment:
Very low cost of 2.2 cents per page using the TN-650 high yield toner cartridges (available elsewhere). But, if you want to scan to email, you have to get the MFC-8890DW. |
I retired all my dells and lexmarks MFC printers for this Brother. This printer is strong. Prints rapid. User friendly use controls. Rare paper jams. When out of ink it wont print and no alert when its low. So you must constantly have a spare toner for emergencies.
