Quick, cheap and easy

If there's one thing I hate the most in a data center, it would be rails. It has to be one of the most difficult and frustrating things to install in a rack, especially when you have to deal with rails that ship with Dells, HPs and other brand name servers that try to be as 'universal' as possible. However these generic rails from StarUSA are one of the easiest to install inside a rack thanks to the simple screw and square washer-adapter system for square-holed rack posts. The screws and square washers seem a bit flimsy and I don't know how they would hold up with a very heavy 5U SAN filled with disks, but so far they do the job perfectly for all other servers that have standard screw holes in the sides. Customer shows up at your data center with a server and no rails? Buying these is a no-brainer solution. |

Great rails, EXCEPT the holes were too small and not in the correct location for my Dell 1950s. Had to drill new holes; still, would buy again. |
My second iStarUSA situation. Heavy, solid construction, quite properly constructed. There are totally NO directions, so you will devote a lot of time unscrewing / screwing / scratching your head. Very first setup will be frustrating. At times elements just won't fit and you may possibly need to have to make slight modifications.
